What can be said about Mugsy. Just that he was about the best dang mutt dog you could ever hope to come across. Found before I was even born he was brought into the family. One of the many "throw away" pets we have raised over the years. Mugsy stuck out. My father raised rabbits in a barn we had on the place. Mugsy proved one day to my father just what an amazing dog he was. Something happened in the barn and some of my fathers rabbits had gotten out. Most dogs will chase and kill rabbits if they can catch them, but Mugsy did something we hadnt seen before. He not only caught the rabbits but he used his front legs..not the paws but his full legs to lean over the rabbit holding it down to the ground not harming it in the least and held it until my father could go and pick it up. Not a one time thing. Mugsy in his lifetime did that many times, holding one for most of the night in the snow once. He was covered with snow and ice, but he never left that rabbit.My father was never a "dog" person until Mugsy came into his life and he never found another dog that he cared for like him. Mugsy played babysitter protector and best friend for his entire life. Eventually going blind, he still got around perfectly well( As long as we didnt move furniture) and lived to be 21 years old.
