Sam was one of those wierd cat survival stories. When Sam was born by a stray in the barn of a siding company owner. As the kittens grew they started wandering the way they all do. Sam was in the drive one morning and the guys driving the truck didn't see him and ran over him. They picked up the kitten and found it to be dead. Having no idea what to do with it they placed it in the company dumpster. one week later I went to work with my husband when he stooped to get his check. Waiting in the car I kept hearing a kitten meowing plaintively. When my husband returned I asked if he heard a kitten, I told him it sounded like it was coming from the dumpster. He told me that a crew had run over a kitten last week and put it in the dumpster, but that it was dead. Needless to say, Hubby went on a dumpster adventure. He came out of the dumpster with a very scared, disoriented, but very much alive kitten. We took him, had him all checked out and he was in good condition, nothing food and water wouldn't cure. The real problem was that Sam was wild, He had some real personality problems, with my husband and other men anyway. Sam and hubby loved each other, yet, hubby would come home from work and Sam would be waiting to pounce on him. He would scratch my husband in the face when he slept. We would get company and sam would systematically go after them one by one. Yet, there was the side of Sam that would just make you adore him. He loved to watch cartoons. They say cats can't see what is on TV..but I swear that cat loved tom and jerry. Sam chose to be an outdoor cat. Slipping out one day and not letting anyone bring him back in. He was finally free..still well fed mind you.. he knew where to go when he wanted to eat. Sam lived his life out in the "wild" as he saw it. A very lucky, weird, but loved cat.
