After weeks of speculation and subterfuge, Spice Girl Victoria Adams wed Manchester United and England footballer David Beckham in a private ceremony in Ireland this afternoon (Sunday July 4).
Adams, whose vows did not promise her to "obey" Beckham, was joined at the wedding by her current band-mates, but there was no appearance from former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell. Halliwell - premiering a new permed hair style - was instead performing in London at the Party In The Park event in Hyde Park while the wedding was taking place.
The wedding, held at the gothic Luttrellstown Castle near Dublin, was limited to a mere 29 guests, while 236 were at the reception. The service was presided over by Paul Colton, the Bishop of Cork. Adams' sister Louise was her bridesmaid, and the couple's baby son, Brooklyn, was also present.
Beckam's best man was fellow Manchester United and Enlgand star Gary Neville, while many of the present Manchester team had flown out to Dublin the previous night, where they joined the groom at a concert at The Point by Fatboy Slim. Manchester United legend Sir Bobby Charlton also attended the reception (though it is considered doubtful that he was at the Fatboy Slim gig).
As reported earlier on Music365, Sir Elton John performed at the reception, where an 18-piece orchestra played - among other tunes - a specially rehearsed medley of Spice Girls hits. Guests were offered a menu of red pepper soup, turkey and sticky toffee pudding.
