The Chausie

Our family has recently adopted a Jungle Cat hybrid called a Chausie, from a wonderful breeder named Sandra at Wildkatz Cattery in Florida.

Introducing MORPHEUS (named after the God of dreams) born 3-27-00

Chausies are a large cat, standing anywhere from 14 - 18" at the shoulders. They have a long body type, with their hind legs rising slightly higher than the front. Males range between 15 and 30 pounds and females between 14 and 25 pounds.

They are good natured hybrid cats with the look and beauty of the Jungle Cat. They have large, mobile, tufted ears, long legs, most chausies do not have the jungle cat length tail. It falls somewhere between full length and 3/4. As kits, they will look very long, but soon they will grow into them ! I think they are just beutiful!

Daddy is Sultan, a Silver-tipped Melanistic Jungle Cat.

Mommy is Black Onyx, a black DSH.

The Jungle cat comes in 3 colors, and so dose the chausie....Golden, melanistic (black), and melanistic silver-tipped (black with silver running through it)

Chausie personality

The Chausie has a GREAT personality! They are so much fun.... Morpheus will jump in the shower with my husband in the morning..... He is always there to help with the dishes, and will BEG to be squirt with a squirt gun! He plays with everything... One of his favorites are drinking straws! He is so quick! Morphy at 6 months
