Quarterbacks Johnny Unitas, Jack Kemp, Len Dawson, Jim Finks, Earl Morrall, and Ted Marchibroda were all either drafted or signed by the Steelers during the 1950's.

 Former Steeler Byron "Whizzer" White went on to serve as a U.S. supreme court justice.

The most common last name of Steelers players is Williams.

Pittsburgh did not have an NFL team before 1933 because Sunday play was against Pennsylvania blue law.

Art Rooney played minor league baseball from 1920 - 1925.

Former Steelers offensive guard Carlton Haselrig is the only wresler in NCAA history to win six heavyweight championships. He did this by wresling in both division I and II. This feat will never be accomplished again because the NCAA has since rewritten it's rules so that no wrestler can compete in both divisions.

The Steelers played in the NFL's first ever overtime game. It was a 35-35 tie with the Broncos on September 22, 1974.

In a 1933 game the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Boston Redskins 16-14 without getting a single first down.

Ed O'Neill who plays Al Bundy on the TV show "Married with Children" was a rookie linebacker in the Steelers training camp in 1969 but was cut before the season began.
