The Oncology Nursing Society announces
the launch of its newest member benefit,
ONS Online, which offers a rich array of
features accessed through the Internet,
provides ONS members with
revolutionary approach to gaining access
to and sharing oncology nursing
information.
Online content includes news, legislative
summaries, oncology-related articles
from both scholarly and consumer
publications, a meetings listing (ONS and
other organizations), various directories
that will give access to ONS services,
and an ONS publications and products
catalogue. A "Dialogue with the Experts"
feature enables users to ask questions to
experts in the areas of clinical practice,
research and education, and receive an
answer within 48 hours. The service also
contains full text editions of the Oncology
Nursing Forum, Oncology Nursing
Updates, Advances in Oncology, and the
Journal of the National Cancer
Institute.
ONS members will be able to access a
variety of services, including the ability
to pay member dues, register for
conferences, and communicate via e-mail
with the ONS Board, Steering Council,
and national office. The online service
will have chat capability, where users
can have live interaction during
preplanned moderated educational
sessions; dialogue capability, where
users can type in and post questions for
other users to answer; and a forum area
for messages and other types of postings.
ONS Online is available through major
online services and local Internet service
