Barbara "Yostie" Ashley- Puppeteer from Pensacola Florida where she operates "The Puppet Factory". She nows resides in Hilton head SC. She is a children's entertainment specialist, an artist in residence in both Florida and SC. She performs and conducts educational workshops frequently and is a member of the Backporch Storytellers of Charleston.

Marc Batten- Past President of Charleston's Backporch Storytellers. A CTM & ATM in Toastmasters International and an engineer by profession who tells his "stories from the heart." Tells a variety of stories, both traditional and original in various settings including schools, clubs meetings, festivals, coffee shops, bookstores, seminars, and banquets. His stories may make you laugh or bring a tear to your eye, but are guaranteed to entertain.

Peggy Berman- Native of Missouri has had much experience working with children. She is very interested in arts and works with Ashley River School for the Arts as a volunteer organizer. She is a member of the Backporch Storytellers and is their coordinator for the "Clean City Clara" program.

Millie Chaplin- A native of the Lowcountry of SC. Her love of the folk tradition began in 1983 with the purchase of a dulcimer. She uses the autoharp and folk toys to enhance the stories she tells. You might watch her making a corn husk doll while she is weaving a story at the same time. She resides in Harleyville, SC. Member BPST, NSA

Margie Clary- Storyteller, teacher, & author who specializes in Southern folk tales. Member of Backporch Storytellers & National Storytelling Association. Citadel professor who teaches courses in storytelling

Jo Dufford- Retired teacher from Summerville. Member of Backporch Storytellers & National Storytelling Association. Jo enjoys embellishing myths & folktales.

Joe Middleton- A native of Hampton, SC, is a teller of traditional folktales. Mr. Middleton is fluent in speaking the Gullah language and has done much research into the Gullah stories indigenous to the Lowcountry. He is retired from the Juvenile Justice Department of SC. He has been featured in The Live Oak Storytelling Festival, Spoletto, The Watermelon Festival at Hampton, The Lowcountry Shrimp Festival, etc He is past president of Backporch Storytellers of Charleston. Member BPST, NSA

Minerva King- A Native of Charleston, Minerva has a B.A. degree in sociology and a M.S. Degree in library science. She has 20 years experience in librarianship and 10 years experience as social worker and counselor. She is founder and president of Herstory, a nonprofit organization formed to educate adults and children from a multicultural perspective. She specializes in African, African/American, Caribbean, Jewish, and Native American stories. She has performed at Stone Soup, Live Oak, Spoletto, MOJA, BASH, and A(gusta) Baker's Dozen Festivals. She is on the SC Arts Commission Approved Artists Roster.

Betty Nemeth- A native of Alabama, Betty has lived most of her Adult life in Charleston, SC. Being a librarian for many years has given her a wealth of stories to share with all ages. Her wit and wisdom give her stories a unique turn for enjoyment. She is a former professor at Charleston Southern University. She has been featured in The Live Oak Storytelling Festival for several years. Member NSA, BPS, STOC

Fouche Sheppard- A native of Charleston, a Storyteller, Performer, and workshop leader. Her "Poetry in Motion," features original stories and poems. She is an artist in education for the South Carolina Arts Commission and has performed for the MOJA and Spoletto festivals. Member NSA, BPS, NABS, STOC, NSL

Alice Smith- Andrews, SC storyteller who can be found almost every week at one of the local libraries telling her stories. "Miss Alice" uses flannel board and cut outs in many of her stories. Member of Backporch Storytellers.

Karen Stinson- Karen comes from a family of Storytellers. She is a Media Specialist at Ladson Elementary, Tells a variety of stories for all ages.

Mary Smith- President of Charleston's Backporch Storytellers, retired elementary school teach from Summerville, SC who uses storytelling in her curriculum to enhance the whole language approach to reading. Member of Backporch Storytellers. Mary enjoys telling folktales and book adaptations.

Echo Wade- A former librarian with roots in the Appalachian culture. She enjoys stories of the American Indian, especially the Cherokee Tribe. Her interests are varied and bring her to stories from around the world. She also has a love for folk music and crafts. She is a member of Backporch Storytellers.
