Married woman, 29, survives rape attempt

IVISAN, Capiz - A twenty-nine year old married woman was able to ward off an attempted rape perpetuated by a suspect in Barangay Balaring this town, some 15 kilometers from Roxas City.

Sandra, (not her real name) 29, of Barangay Agustin Navarra of this town, reported to the Ivisan PNP Office that she was a victim of an attempted rape allegedly perpetuated by a certain Jerald Almanom, of legal age and resident of Balaring of the same town.

Sandra narrated that the incident took place last May 7 at around 8 p.m. in Sition Calubihan, Balaring, Ivisan, Capiz.

According to her, when she was walking alone with a flash light on her way to cousin's home, the suspect suddenly emerged and grabbed dragges her on the dark portion of the roadside.

She added that upon reaching the place, the suspect grabbed her flash light and undressed her. When the suspect was about to rape her, a bystander saw the incident and shouted at the suspect to stop.

Sensing danger, the suspect then punched and kicked her before fleeing the scene of incident.

On the other, Almanon vehemently denied the rape try, saying that he and the victim were supposed to meet at the said place to have a sexual intercourse in exchange of P200.

The Ivisan PNP Office under P/Chief Inpector Harold Depositar is still being interrogated by the authorities as of presstime.
