J.217 | Seggu Jaataka | A greengrocer of Benares had a daughter called Seggu. Before agreeing to give her in marriage, her father wished to test her virtue, and took her into the forest and whispered to her words of love. When she asked for his protection, he was convinced of her virtue and agreed to her marriage to a good young man. The story was related to a greengrocer in Savatthi who treated his daughter in a similar way. The characters were identical in both cases.
