Bakkula said that he should change the question to ask how many times he had been subject to sexual obsession since ordination. Bakkula replied to his own question that throughout eighty years of his ordination he had never had any sexual obsession, nor thought of vengeance or cruelty. Bakkula tells of all the things which have never happened to him since his ordination which bear witness to his purity of mind. The naked ascetic is inspired to faith by his example and ordains, being able to attain arahantship before long, and enters into parinirvana in the middle of the monastic assembly. This Sutta comes from a time after the passing of the Buddha. |
