So lets get started on our tour of the Shiretown of Pictou, this area was first settled 225 years ago, mainly by passengers of the Ship Hector which after a harrowing journey landed on the shores of Pictou Harbor September 15, 1773. For more info on the journey of the Hector click below.

So, being very proud of the Hector and her passengers, the town has recreated the waterfront of the town. Most prominent is the Hector Heritage Quay which houses the rebuilding if a scale size replica of the Ship Hector, which was launched into the harbour in the year 2000. Click below for pics of the waterfront and information on the Quay.

Also being the "Birthplace of New Scotland", Pictou has a lot of family roots. This makes our next stop the McCulloch House Properties, home of the McCulloch House Museum and the Hector Exhibit Center which is maintained by the Pictou County Genealogy and Heritage Society along with help from the Government of NS. Hundreds of people make the journey to Pictou to research their families origins and this is the place to do it!
