My Personal Fav. Sterling Marlin #40

Sterling Marlin drives the number 40 Coors Light car! I recently entered the pits at Dover Downs Speedway. I met many of the drivers and I must say, Sterling is a good driver, and one of the nicest driver I met.

PERSONAL INFO:

Sterling was born June 30, 1957. That makes him....42 ahhhhhh! He is married to Paula and together they have 2 children, Steadman and Sutherlin. They live in Columbia, Tenn.

RACING INFO:

Sterling Marlin made his NASCAR Winston Cup Series debut in 1976. In 1983 he was the declared Rookie of the Year. Marlin has suffered misfortune after misfortune. In 1997 Marlin climed towards the top with two top-5 finishes at Daytona. In 1998 Marlin left the No. 4 Morgan-McClure Chevorlet and in now with the No. 40 Team SABCO Chevy. Sterling is best known as the third driver in NASCAR Winston Cup Series history to win back-to-back Daytona 500s.

DIRT TRACK RACING

BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO BOBBY BRIGGS IN THE #12 CAR. HE HAS MADE IT A REPEAT OF LAST YEAR. BOBBY IS THE 1998 POINTS CHAMPION AT HESSTON SPEEDWAY! WAY TO GO BOBBY, WE KNEW YOU COULD DO IT!

Now, give it up for my favorite driver.....#12 Bob Briggs!

Here is a quick overview on the racing season. I am sure I will have more to say later! Again I would like to congratulate Bob on his points championship repeat! Second I would like to thank all the crew who made each and every week great. They include... Mary Briggs, Tom Culp, Regis Briggs, Jim Briggs, Marinda, Sabrina, Myself(Tara), and my favorite...Gary Holland. I just want to thank him again for all the quality time we got to spend at the track together. Those are times I will never forget. I love you dad! Now on to the racing. The final race was very interesting.... We started off great with a good friend of mine, Kelly Stock, pulling us a 3. That was good enough for a pole position in the first heat. This intern led to the pole in the feature. Side by side were Tannyhill and Briggs. Second in points and First respectively. It was great racing... at first. And until now, I never would have said something bad about Tannyhill. The Points Championship were wrapped up after the green flag dropped on the very first lap. There was no need for Tannyhill to take Bobby out. That is basically all I have to say on the subject. Bobby drove in reverse almost into Tannyhill to prove the point that he was mad, but he never made any contact. I don't believe that was the intention. Anyhow because of this incident neither driver finished at the top. They were both directed to the end of the pack. It is just a shame to see a driver do something like that. It just proves what type of person he is. I am just proud to say that when the race was all said and done, it was not the crew of #12 car who made fools of themselves out of their pits! I would like to finally thank again all the drivers at Hesston, present or past, for all the FUN! That is why I go to the races to have fun!:) You can view the official #12 Bobby Briggs website!
