GLENN
Hi: I am doing research on my family and found them in St. Joseph
County in the 1850's federal census. The surname is GLENN. John was the father and Euphemia was the mother. They had three children. One daughter named Margaret,a son named Robert and my great great grandfather who was born there in St. Joseph, James GLENN. John listed his trade as a cooper. When I wrote to the library there in St. Joseph they told me that he probably worked at one of the breweries. Don't know just what time they left St. Joseph, but when I found them in 1880 Iowa federal census, Euphemia was not listed. So I thought maybe she passed away there. Would certainly appreciate any ideas you might have on how I could check this information out.
Thank you, Inez Jackson

HARMAN
My GGGrandfather, Samuel HARMAN, and my ggrandfather, George HARMAN, moved to St. Joseph County about 1870. I do not find them in the census for that year, nor are they in the Ohio census. I am assuming they were left out because they were on the move. Both Samuel and George are supposedly buried in the Nottawa Cemetery, the one down the road which faces the stone school house. Also in that cemetery should be Mahala SHUNK and Barbara KNEPP SHUNK. I have not been able to find the graves though a relative took pictures about 20 years ago and the township office has not been able to help.
My grandparents, George HARMAN (born 1874) and Mary Katherine (Cassie) Thomas HARMAN lived on a farm about two miles out of Colon on M86 on the county line with Branch County. They are buried in Lakeside Cemetery as are my parents.
In addition to HARMAN, I am seeking information on SHUNK and KNEPP.
Catherine KNEPP McCLAIN (she supposedly died in Colon though I was not able to find a grave at Lakeside). The Samuel HARMAN buried in
Nottawa (with a large tombstone near the front of the cemetery) is a
brother of my ggrandfather, and Fannie, his wife, is a sister to my
ggrandmother, Minerva Jane SHUNK HARMAN.
Also, if anyone has information which would prove my theory that the
Samuel HARMAN in Branch County is somehow related.
