Signed for Middlesbrough from Liverpool for 1 million pounds ($1.62 million) after Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier made it clear Ince had no future at Anfield. Bryan Robson reckons that Ince will prove one of the bargains of the season. Joined Liverpool from Inter Milan for $6.8 million in 1997. A favourite of the United fans during his time at Old Trafford, he helped Alex Ferguson's men to end a 26-year championship drought in 1993. Moved from Manchester United to Inter Milan for 7 million pounds ($11.7 million) in 1995, a record fee received by United. The self-styled "Guvnor", Ince tackles with 100 percent commitment but is equally good coming forward. Known for his fierce competitive streak, his game is often too readily disrupted by his desire to argue with referees and get involved in flashpoints on the pitch. On his day though he can destroy opponents with his all-action style. Gave an inspirational captain's performance when England drew 0-0 with Italy. Has since moved on Wolves as McClaren aims to lower the average age of the squad.
