  Dahnmaya Cath-me-bec was the brother of the last King/Emperor of the Cathurian Empire. A hero-worshipping younger brother, he was very proud of his family's empire, and the high civilization it held. Then his uncle killed Liling's son...and Lilung was the Emperor of Dragons, The whole dragon host arose and decimated the Empire, which consisted of most of the civilization on an entire continent. Hundreds of thousands died. The King/Emperor disappeared, presumably dead (but there is more to THAT story) and Dahnmaya was left Emperor of ashes. In his bitterness, he turned against C'Don, who made all things and allowed such things to happen. Then his shadow spoke to him, offering him power enough to hold his empire together, if he would exchange shadows with Sagin. In his bitterness, he agreed. Sagin's shadow than became Dahnmaya's shadow, which is why his shadow does not resemble him. He had another name before that, but he renamed himself Dahnmaya Cath-me-bec. "Shadowlover Great-no-more" is how it is translated...the old name "Cathuria" meaning "greatness".
 He was filled with more power than he ever dreamed, but found that the slightest touch of sunlight filled him with agony. Using the great powers given by Sagin, far greater than any mortal warlock or wizard, he restored order among the survivors, but ruled from a shuttered and curtained castle during the day. Later he started to rule from underground, so as not to have the slightest chance of contacting sunshine. He started to dig deeper and deeper, and his hold on the surface world grew more and more remote, although it lasted for centuries. Finally, rebellions ended his control of the surface world, but instead he built the Bright City far underground, and started ruling from there. He makes forays into the surface world to reclaim what he considers his ancestral lands.
He does not consider himself evil, per se. He considers himself the rightful heir to the Cathurian empire, and felt that HE was betrayed by C'don, for allowing such things to happen. His lifespan is unending as long as he is allied with Sagin, and no force short of a Kaan is a match for him. He still dearly loves the memory of his brother...
Who unknown to Dahnmaya, has been put into a age-long sleep by the sorcerers of his court when the dragons were destroying everything, and then hidden in a secret location. it is said he will sleep till the last days, and then rise again. If Dahnmaya is still around then, it will be interesting to see his reaction...
