Spamorama.

By Christian or other name I care not how I call you, but rest easy, no equivocations from me. You have proved a worthy opponent and I therefore would not dishonor you at the 12th hour with tricks. No more subterfuge, no more machinations and deceptions. No more duplicity, no more tracks in the wrong direction. No more of anything I value and savor.

My best shot: If you are not Alan Ransom, then somebody cut my back legs loose from the top two twisted strands of fence.

Humbly,

Dean Torges

It's high noon on the corner of First and Main and I stand alone.........pity......

Perhaps the Great One should have used www.mapit.com for directions.

Touche' Mon Ami for you have unequivocally delivered the life-ending stroke to Spamorama. I lay before you, sprawled and bleeding but a happier man you will not find. I do not hang my head in defeat for the chase was grand and for that, I truely thank you.

Do not intentionally avoid your place here at "home"...for you will be missed. I'll cut the wires on the fence to make it more comfortable to roam to and fro.

Your humble cyber-friend,

Alan Edward Ransom

This game of cat and mouse was fun, was it not? Congratulations, Dean, for sorting through the mess. Must have one o' them high tech 'crap detectors'. Or was supernatural powers, as I see your phone prefix is 666.:-)

You gotta admit, we through some nasty curves at you, didn't we?

Poor Alan was humbled

Deano's guess never fumbled

Perhaps his departure will delay

Let's offer him comfort

and pray for his bad foot

and hope he returns in a day

Maybe this ain't over yet. Has anybody ever seen Alan & Dean together? In the same place at the same time?

Alan, we fought the good fight, eh? Sneaky and underhanded, but a good fight nonetheless. Most fun I've had since Tailhook!

Wolverine, whoever you are, I owe you a beer. My mock anger was intended to bolster your priceless clue. Perhaps one of the nastiest curves thrown. E-mail me at bigdog@cyberdyne.com

Nice shot Dean. And with the first arrow!

Time to fess up everyone. Need identities of all posters on this thread for my archives and possibly addition to webpage.

Come on, do not be shy. Who are you nuts?

Subject: RE: Spamorama Revealed From: TennBow Date: 30-Jan-98

Tom (BR) yes there is still time to bet.

Here is my wager.

I wager that Dean will name the true Spamorama within the next two days. I further wager that he will be correct.

The bet is that I have to take a deer with a bow that YOU MAKE if I win. Should I lose, I will not hunt with my new Z-Max UNTIL I kill a deer with a bow I make myself.

Where are your cojone's senoir flatlander?

I am the allknowing REGO.

Master Po, and, of course, that little beady eyed Weasel.

Subject: RE: Spamorama Revealed From: Tom (BR) Date: 30-Jan-98

TennBow - OK, You win and you have to take a deer with a bow that I make (and everybody read it). I have this 18" hackberry bow nearly finished. I was going to let my daughter use it so she can play Robin Hood with her Barbies but it sounds like you need it more than Ken does. I'll finish tillering and get it in the mail. Happy hunting.

I don't get this thread. Who is spam and why should I care about it. It is supposed to be humorous correct? Also what does this have to do with traditional archery or archery at all for that matter? After reading the rules of the board this is definetly not about archery.

Subject: RE: Spamorama Revealed From: Spamorama Date: 30-Jan-98

Fastflight...deep breath friend. Perhaps you should switch to B50 and learn to stretch a little :)

Alan

PS: It's not so much "who" as it is "what"...that is the real question.

Subject: RE: Spamorama Revealed From: longbow Date: 30-Jan-98

Ok guys what a long thread. What is it supposed to be about anyhow. I kind of side with ff on this one. I have been comming to this sight since it's inception and this has got to be the longest thread about nothing I have ever attempted to read. Didn't this start last year or something? Wasn't it about shooting at cans of spam or something like that at Mussato's place. What is the point of it all anyhow. I know what spam is it is a canned meat by product that somehow relates to traditional archery, which leads me to a point. And that is that it doesn't, so what is it doing on the board. I thought if it wasn't archery related then it shouldn't/wouldn't/couldn't be posted. Correct me si vous plais if I am wrong. Or is it more the placor than the content of said related article. Thats it I won't read anymore posts about this said aforementioned spam. Keep'em canned

Subject: RE: Spamorama Revealed From: Tom(Longbo) Date: 30-Jan-98

flasflight, at first glance your perception of this thread is probably correct. However, no matter how silly or unrelated to archery it may appear, the SPAM fiasco has been responsible for bringing together many archers from across the country. Many of who met and broke bread together at the First Annual GSSC in Michigan last year. And after all. Isn't that what this BB is really all about? Bringing archers together.

Tom(Longbo) aka Tom Mussatto, TheHermit, Beevis, Old Sage

We still missing several identities here. Come on folks, give'em up.

Subject: RE: Spamorama Revealed From: Brian Cole Date: 30-Jan-98

Fastflight, this thread is indeed a continuation of the GLLI thread (Great Lakes Longbow Invitational)- which we later named GSSC (Great Lakes Spam shoot).

The search for the finest archer in the realm digressed into a contest to put a broadhead through a SPAM can and then things really started to get interesting.

But I have a question of my own...why do people who claim to dislike this thread seem so interested in it?

Brian Cole

Thank you my bretheren. Although I have not been around the wall long enough to have understood this thread by itself, there were clues to figure out what was going on. I hungarily followed them. What a TREET. The mental imagery created by the players involved will last a long time for me. I can picture Dr. Dean drinking his coffee amidst rambling twangy music, attempting to thwart the confusion and commotion-all while Mary is going off to work. I wonder what she would think of all this. I may never meet any of the whacky people involved in this thread(I hope to) but am glad to know they exist. After having read this I feel like I just returned from a good hunting trip.

Subject: RE: Spamorama Revealed From: TennBow Date: 30-Jan-98

I may now assume that Tom (BR) owes me a bow, correct?

And yes I should have been there because no self-respecting southerner would waste a broadhead on a can of Spam.

Dean, I am forever in your debt for your help and guidance on my bowmaking endeavors. Thank you.

Fastflite - the Spamorama thread merely passed the time betwixt seasons, allowing a form of comraderie never before achieved. Friendships were made with never a face to see. I have a strange feeling that this thread, like Haggis, will never die.

Subject: RE: Spamorama Revealed From: JKMO John Krause ( Missouri) Date: 31-Jan-98

A great chase! The fox made many twists and turns that threw the hounds off the chase. The lead hound trusted his nose and instinct and kept on the trail. A master hunter waited for the enevitable meeting that must occur when he waits for the quarry that must appear when patience and perserverance are rewarded. The stand was well picked. The first arrow struck the mark. Congratulations ! Robin Hood

Where do we go from here? There is alot of time between seasons.

Subject: RE: Spamorama Revealed From: Rob Flinn Date: 31-Jan-98

Jim Flinn = Opposum (little bro.) Libby Flinn = Bear cub (age 5). She was really trying to follow this. Imagine trying to explain it to her.

Fastflight, please join in next time. Understanding what is going on is not a requirement. Its kind of like a long running joke down at the barbershop, just a little more dynamic.

Say doesn't this make it under the rules as "politics".:)

Subject: RE: Spamorama Revealed From: SonOfSpam Date: 31-Jan-98

TREET suggests a fake, made of inferior parts,

SPAM is for SPAM's sake, with twice the farts.

You get what you take, from these archers' hearts,

Try jumping in a lake, instead of throwning darts.

Guano, the black sheep in Jonathan Livingston Seagull's family, slayer of Doe-boy, beset with chronic indigestion due to eating excessive amounts of Spam, vienna sausage, Tabasco sauce and bad coffee. A USAF officer (Col. Bat Guano) who attained immortality in Dr. Strangelove by riding an H-bomb into doomsday.

Great, albeit lengthy, thread that, IMO captured the very essence of bowhunting. There was a mighty bowman stalking a wiley forest dweller, lots of false signs to lead nimrods down cold trails, some comradarie around the campfire, and, in the end, a single, swift arrow to cleanly dispatch the game. Both the hunting party and the quarry put on a first rate show! George H.

And so it ends

Or does it?

Wolverine?
