In this part of my site, I will focus on one particular type of Tomica product, whether it be car sets, playsets, particular makes of cars, or whatever can be categorized, as long as it is made by Tomica. Tomica has always focused on Japanese cars, and Datsun is one of the brands which has many models represented in the Tomica range. This file includes several Datsun cars. FYI, "Datsun" was on most cars until the mid-1980s, when they changed name to Nissan. Datsun actually owned Nissan beforehand, but then changed their name to Nissan. Consequently, the cars in this file are all pre-1980. There is a description list included in the file.

Tomica has made several sets of cars either to commemorate some event or as a special set to advertise some product or store. They are usually 3 or 4-car sets and are in a special box advertising what the set is for. I have personally seen two sets for sale--one an emergency car set (not the same as listed below), and the other some action-set containing chrome color cars with futuristic computer tampos on them. The sets below are both from the old Japanese made cars of the 70s and 80s and also the new China cars. I have described the sets pictured as well as I know, because the boxes of several are in Japanese.
Sheriffset--3 Volkswagen Beetles in special colors made for Sheriff's Auto Models in Australia. I'd say they are from the early 1980s.
Rescueset--Emergency vehicles--Supra police car, "Super Ambulance," Kawasaki police motorcycle, fire truck. These are from the 1990s, as all of the vehicles are included in the 1998 range
Truckset--Trucks carrying strange cargo--pirate ship, helicopter, bullet train, elephant. Again, fairly new, with current design trucks.
SuzSubset--set of Suzuki Carry flower truck, Suzuki Cervo police car, Subaru R-2, Subaru 360. Older set, most likely from the mid 1970s to early 80s.
Cokeset--Coca-Cola Santa Set--4 delivery type trucks with Coca-Cola Santa graphics. Brand new, 98 edition.
AAset--American Airlines airport set--Toyota Hiace stairs truck, luggage tractor and trailer, catering truck. Late 1970s.
