Spring 1997

Club News and Notes
HOWDY! - and welcome to this edition of the G-Gauge Gnus, the official publication of the RMGRS.

The RMGRS had a great display at Sunnyside Garden Center over Christmas and a roomful of trains and track at SuperTrain at Memata Armoury in February. Supertrain had more than 6000 visitors and everyone of them was crowded into our display at one time or an other - or at least it seemed like it. Our display had better scenery than past events, and this fact was widely appreciated.

Thanks to all the members who volunteered their time and equipment for these events. The whole community is better off by your efforts.

We have a great program planned for this summer so bring your friends and family - see Coming Events column for details.

Several very productive work sessions were held to upgrade our display materials and get ready for the summer season. Again, thanks to all who took part.

Editorial
Public model railway events are not everyone's cup of tea - but don't despair. There is more to RMGRS than running trains at shows. If you need help with getting started, assistance with maintenance, advice on modeling techniques, or helpful hints for both indoor and outdoor operations, call one of the other members. They are bound to know who has special skills or reference materials that could be useful.

Enthusiasm for any phase of our hobby is always welcome. Project this to others and you'll probably find kindred spirits amoung your friends and acquaintences. Happy railroading this summer.

Low Cost Motor Vehicles
The Bburago 1:24 scale automotive models are on sale at Toys R Us for $9.95. The normal price is around $30. Watch out for 1:18 scale models on the same shelf that are still $30. Cars vary from 1928 Mercedes SSK to 1995 Testarosa, so you should find something of interest.
