The stunning and beautiful oil on canvas by artist Danny Day is a remarkable piece of art. The Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C. elicits a myriad of  emotional and heartfelt responses from the throng of friends, relatives and fellow veterans who are visitors to "The Wall" every day of every year.

Truly unique, is the experience of an innocent  little girl, who only knows her Daddy from the recollections of a Mother who has had to endure the hardships of losing her most beloved husband. This is the story told by Danny Day's  painting "Daddy's Girl".

Two very different worlds exist here. One consists of a mother who has tried to pass on to her daughter the strength and outlook that she has had to develop through the great loss they both share. She has tried to keep alive the spirit of her husband by passing along her memories and experiences with him to her little girl.

Her young daughter traces onto a piece of paper  the name of a man, her father, a war hero, whom she does not know, but only knows of. Her world is depicted in a setting of bright sunshine and blue skies, symbolizing the mother's outlook of  faith, optimism, and remembrance which she tries to instill in her innocent  child.

The reflection in the Wall, shows a very different world indeed. A much darker, more sinister reality. The reality of war. As fires burn uncontrolled in the background, sending plumes of dark smoke high into a battle stained sky, a lone soldier reaches through the dimensions into another time and place. He longs to offer his reassuring touch to the loving wife he has left behind, and to the daughter he will never know.
