Cichlids are fantastic,mainly african,beautiful fish.They can grow up to 30 in.(80 cm.)long! Some have long, cylindrical bodies, while others have tall,disk-shaped bodies. Many are active predators,others eat insects or plants. These fish are of interest to behavioral scientists because of the many behavioral patterns it has. Many species are territorial,clearing out a nest and guarding their eggs and fry. Some are mouth brooders,keeping close watch on the young as they flee from frightening things to their mother or father's mouth.
