James Vance
A multiple winner of national awards for playwriting, he was commissioned to write the drama "Halls of Ivory", which was named an official event of the Bicentennial Celebration of the United States Constitution. His play "Stations" was chosen to represent the United States at the International Theater Festival in Monte Carlo. His graphic novel Kings in Disguise (with artist Dan Burr) was honored with the Eisner and Harvey awards — the Oscars of their field — and his subsequent comics work includes stories for the "Batman" and "Aliens" franchises. He has had work produced in the fields of radio drama and independent film. As an entertainment journalist, he writes a weekly newspaper column on family television, and regularly interviews the stars of popular prime-time dramas. He was commissioned to write a monograph in conjunction with the Smithsonian Institution touring exhibit "Climbing Jacob's Ladder", and his script for the related television documentary "Hope is the Last Thing to Die" was honored by the National Conference of Christians and Jews. James has completed a novel for the mystery market, written by his late wife Kate Worley, and has begun work on a new book in the same genre. He is also collaborating with Reed Waller , co-creator (with Kate Worley) of the highly acclaimed series Omaha the Cat Dancer on new Omaha stories.
