Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., was founded January 16, 1920 on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. Our founders, graciously known as THE 5 Pearls, sought out (at the urging of two Phi Beta Sigma brothers) to establish an organization that fosters the ideals of Scholarship, Sisterly Love, Service and of course Finer Womanhood. With the encouragement from Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., The Zeta Phi Beta Sigma family was born, thus creating the ONLY CONSTITUTIONALLY BOUND brother and sister organization.
Zeta Phi Beta was founded as a non-profit organization that would reach Afikan-Americans women in all parts of the United States. Zeta Phi Beta has embraced woman not located in the U.S., by establishing chapters in Germany, Afika, and the Bahamas. Zeta Phi Beta was the first Greek letter organizaion in Afrika, with it's first chapter in Liberia (1948) and expanding to Sierra Leone, Nigeria, and serval parts of Wast Afika.
