Kawasaki's syndrome

Kawasaki's disease or syndrome is characterized by fever bilateral conjunctivitis, oral mucosal fissures, erethema of and scaling and fissures of palms and soles. Later there is multisystem involvement including a carditis and vasculitis.


toxic shock syndrome gives a rash

TSS caused by staph and group A beta hemolytic strep due to tampons infected, or surgical wounds and other possible sources gives a florid ubiquitous rash, fever, hypotension, confusion and septic features.


scarlet fever

the rash of scarletina is sandpaper like, there are Pastia lines in the elbow creases and circumoral pallor, it occurs in the setting of a strep infection and can lead to heart disease.


the purpuras

Henoch Shoenlein Purpura is a rash of childhood consisting of purpura from the waist down. Renal problems may ensue. GI bleeding is an occasional feature which may precede the rash by six weeks.

be on guard for development of GI bleed, intusussception, abdominal pain, renal insufficiency.
