Tens of thousands of queer youth live isolated, invisible lives, with nobody to talk to. Online communication is a magic carpet that lifts us beyond our stifling geographic and psychological boundaries to a land of conversation, information and potentially life saving interaction.
Keep in mind that the signals from schools, churches and even families are that what we are feeling is
dirty, illicit or condemned by God. Simultaneously, we watch our straight peers as they date, hang out, gossip
about dating and mating, all with the approving collaboration of adults and their community institutions.
We are seeing a struggle for the moral high ground using the politics of embarrassment. The heterosexual lobby in the Church aims to soften up Gay and Lesbian Christians by talking about so called gay lifestyles, yet they feel no personal responsibility for equivalent heterosexual lifestyles.
These attempts to put us in a mood to make concessions challenge our commitment to an inclusive gospel.
Dehumanization of any part of our society opens the door to intolerance, hatred, and violence.
