Boonesboro Beach

Many years before the ludicrous Fake Fort Boonesboro was built, an even goofier tourist attraction was conceived here: let's jazz up the site of the original Fort Boonesboro by importing hundreds of tons of sand and palm trees, and making a faux-coastal Beach resort. I guess it seemed like a good idea at the time.

It didn't work, though. The brief heyday of Boonesboro Beach is long gone. All the gift shops and restaurants are defunct, the campground is a shadow of its former self, the snack bar is closed, and no more palm trees. Few people even bother to hang out on the beach since they built a cheesy swimming pool with a waterslide nearby. Sad.

You can still rent a paddlewheel riverboat for private parties up and down the river, though.
