Also people I've gotten sick of writing this person thought this so from now on *this means thought* ___________________________________________________________________________ Serena woke up startled. She was sweaty from tossing and turning during the night. She stood up and pulled on a pair of brown cotton pants and a loose blue shirt. She grabbed a dark green cape and tucked her long blond tresses under it. She ran out the large doors into the cool air, it wasn't dawn yet so it was still pretty dark. She started along the path to the gate then turned back. She creeped up the long hallways as silently as she could to the weapon rooms. She grabbed a bow and arrows from a nearby rack and slung them over her shoulder. She also grabbed a belt with a sword and wrapped it around her waist. *Sheesh this thing is big. Why don't they make weapons for women?* Serena heard a rattle from outside the door. She glanced around looking for the noise. *I've got to get going before someone finds me.* "Serena?" Someone whispered fromthe door. "Is that you?" It was Mina. She had Raye with her. "Where are you going?" Mina was getting curious. "Uhhh..to the bathroom?" Serena asked feebly. "Dressed like that?" Raye almost laughed. "Ok, I had a bad dream and I have to go somewhere. Alright?" Serena started out the door but Raye grabbed her shoulder. "We're coming too." Mina said excited. Serena knew she had no choice but to let them come. "Oh okay. You're going to need a weapon so get something off one of the racks, and hurry up!" Serena said angry with herself that she wasn't quiet enough. Mina grabbed a long staff with a blade on the end and Raye grabbed a pair of blades. "Come on lets go. We don't want anyone else to wake up." The gateman was watching the three as they approached the large metal gates. They were unrecognisable because their capes were slung over their heads so you could barely see their faces. "Hello and what business did you have in the palace grounds so early in the morning gentlemen?" "Actually we were just finishing of the gardening." Raye said pulling her dark red cape off her head, she flashed a smile at the guard. "Sorry ladies." He pulled back the gates and let them pass. A few minutes later. "Raye! What if that guard recognised you?" Mina asked. "I haven't met that many people since I've been here." Raye said defending hereself. "Just stop arguing, we don't have time." Serena said not being very tolerant. She was still thinking about the ball last night. "Where exactly are we going?" Mina asked. "A place, you'll see whan we get there." "Hey if we're going with you we want to know where we are going!" Raye said. "Well don't come with me then. You guys wanted to come." Serena was getting annoyed. She had wanted to think about everything she had found out over the last few days. That night Serena was sitting on a rock that looked over the edge of the valley. The sun had set and the sky was tinted orange. *Everything has happened so fast. I don't want to be the Moon Princess. The Princess will have to be the Queen one day and that is just to much. I can barely handle looking after the Prince and his annoying comments. The Senshi all expect the princess to be some strong wonderful person. If they find out they've been searching alsmot all their lives for me they'll be dissapointed. I absolutely cannot let anyone find out.* Serena took the chain of from her neck and put it in her pocket. If the King or Queen saw the necklace they'd know who she was straight away. It was still cold and she was wrapping the warm, dark green material of her cape about herself. The hood had fallen off and her blond hair was blowing about in the cool breeze that was rushing through the valley. She was startled when someone sat next to her. It was Mina. "Are you okay Serena? You seem a little distant today. Why are we out here? What made you leave the palace so early in the morning?" Mina asked softly. For some reason Serena found it easy to talk to Mina. "I had a dream last night. I think it was some sort of warning." Serena voice was barely a whisper. "You should talk to Raye about that. She's a preistess and she know about stuff like that." Mina answered worried. "I will, in the morning." Mina looked at Serena not convinced but decided she had better get back before Raye went looking for her. Serena was left sitting alone. *Mina is right I should talk to Raye. But that isn't half of my problems. I hope to anyone who is listening that my dream isn't ever going to come true. Nothing seems normal anymore. The last few days with, the Senshi, the Moon Princess and Darien. Darien makes my life hard enough with all his snide comments and making me look bad in front of everyone. That is all going to be ten times worse if he ever finds out that he was dancing with me. I really hope that Mina can keep a secret. Everything is getting too hard. I shouldn't have become a guard, I knew I wouldn't be able to handle it all. I always envied people with power, but now I envy the people without it. My wishes are all coming true but alot of things are coming with those wishes and most of them I don't want anymore.* Serena sat there for a while. The day was quickly fading into night and finally Serena decided to go back to the camp. Mina and Raye wre already asleep and the small fire had long gone out. Serena found a clear space and lay down with her cape wrapped around her. She hadn't thought about bringing a blanket but was now wishing she had. The sun was shinig brightly right in Serena's face. She shaded her eyes as she woke up. She sat up and looked about for Mina and Raye, they were nowhere to be seen. There was giggling from behind a nearby tree. Mina and Raye were finding something very funny. Serena walked over to her two friends. "What's so funny?" Serena asked confused. "Oh it's n..nothing!" Mina and Raye said barely able to speak. Serena went over to the creek to wash her face. The clear water reflected the sunlight like a crystal. She splashed her face with water, it felt cool and fresh on her skin. She looked at her reflection in the water, her long blond hair was everywhere. This must have been what Mina and Raye were laughing about. Before she went to sleep last night she pulled her hair into a bun with a long stream of blonde hair coming down her back. Her hair was all frizzeled and knotty. It was going to take a while to fix it up. Serena went back to the small bag she brought with soem bread in it to see if by any chance there was a comb in there. Mina and Raye came over to Serena who was rumaging through the bag. "Here, you might like to borrow this?" Mina was stifling a giggle as she held a silver comb out to Serena. A few days later the three were walking through some sort of woods in silence. Serena ahd announced to be ready, they were almost there. They finally reached the last layer of trees and bush. Serena paused before slashing through the thick vines with her sword. Serena jumped out and was followed closely by Mina and Raye. All three stood shocked at the sight before them. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Back in the palace worry was evident. "Where are they!" an angry Queen Alexia spoke to no one in peticular. "They could be anywhere by now. It's been more then a week!" Queen Serenity was feeling worried again. "I hope my little baby is alright." The Queen of Venus was worrying. "I'm sure they're alright. I think they can survive alone. I'm pretty sure that Serena can." Queen Alexia said reassuringly. The senshi and guards were in a group discussing the situation when they came to a decision. Jedeite went up to Queen Alexia and Serenity. "May we," Jedeite said indicating himself, the senshi and the guards."Please start a search party? If they have just run away, not been kidnapped I know a few places Serena would probably go." "Alright but you must be prepared before you leave. We'll have some people help you all get ready." Queen Alexia answered. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Serena, Mina and Raye hadn't moved in the last five minutes. There jaws were practically scraping the ground. "Ohh no!" All three turned around at the unexpected deep voice. Darien had just stepped out of the bushes. Serena looked at Darien, he looked concerned. He knew where they were. His eyes flashed sympathy to Serena, it was the first time Darien had actually been almost nice. At that moment Serena ran down through all the rubble to the remains of what looked like it would have been a large building. The building was almost totally demolished. Serena cried out and fell to the ground. Mina and Raye were shocked to see Serena cry. Darien couldn't believe it, Serena was the last person he expected to see crying. "Why's she crying?" Mina whispered to Darien who seemed to understand. "Don't worry I'll talk to her. You guys see if you can find any survivors." Darien face was dead serious. "Survivors?" Mina and Raye asked at the same time. "This isn't from ages ago, it happened recently." Darien left the two and walked over to Serena who was silently crying to herself. "Serena?" Darien didn't know exactly what to say. "It..it was t..to l..la..late!" Serena managed to wail between her silent sobs. Her whole body was shaking. Darien sat down beside her. He put his arm over her shoulder's. "Serena you weren't to late. No one could have known what would happen." He was trying to make his voice as convincing as he could. He found it awkward holding Serena this close, but it also felt familiar. "I knew! I knew this was going to happen! All I had to do was come faster!" "Serena! Serena! Look at me!" He grabbed her chin and turned it up to his look at him. Her forehead was glowing strangely. Darien pushed her blonde curls away from her face and looked closer at the glowing symbol on her head. It was acresent moon. "The Moon Insigna!" Darien gasped. Serena buried her face in her hands. "You, you're the one everyone's looking for." He stood up and began to back away. He started to run in the opposite direction to where he came from. "No Darien!" Serena yelled and was off after him. She turned a corner behind the only building left standing on the very edge of the town and ran straight into Darien. "You can't tell...n.wefi.." Serena started but her voice was muffled by Darien's hand over her mouth. "Sshhh!" Darien hissed. "Listen there's voices in there." Darien was motioning towards the building they were standing next to which was the temple. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * "Hey Mina come here for a second!" Raye called her blonde friend over to see something she found in the ashes. "What's up?" Mina asked. "I think I found a clue. Look!" Raye was very excited about what she found. "So? It's a necklace." Mina didn't find it very interesting. "It's not just any necklace, look at the stone." Raye was bursting with excitement. "Oh my god! Is that, Was that, Does that mean? Oh my god, Queen Serenity is going to be so happy. You found that here?" Mina and Raye were jumping up and down in excitement. The shining blue crystal seemed to have a silver moon symbol floating inside. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * "What are they saying?" Serena was straining to hear. "Well if you kept your loud mouth shut we might be able to hear!" Darien said raising his voice. "Hey I don't have a loud mouth and the reason I can't hear is because you've been blabbing non stop!" Serena answered. "I haven't been blabbing, you have!" Darien was starting to get annoyed. "I HAVE NOT!" Serena almost screamed. At that moment Darien and Serena were grabbed from behind. Serena looked at the hands holding her by the shoulders. They were dark, smoky, black with large claws. *Bandits! They must have wrecked the town. They will pay!* Serena broke free and pulled her sword out. She turned around and slashed through the bandits that were attacking her and Darien. Darien backed away and let Serena finish off the last few bandits and soon the only evidence left were piles of dust where bandits once were. "Are you ok your higness?" Serena asked the prince. Her voice was colder than ice. "Yes I'm fine." Darien aswered not appreciating having a female guard. "Then let's go before Tanzanite sends more bandits. We have to get Raye and Mina too!" Serena ordered more then asked. Darien and Serena returned to the demolished town to find Mina and Raye still jumping up and down, overjoyed. "What makes you so happy about people dying and their homes being destroyed? I sure don't find it funny that my parents are dead, and I'm pretty sure Jedeite and Malachite won't either!" Serena snapped at Raye and Mina. They stopped their celebrating and Serena turned away as tears began to fall down her face again. "Serena!" Mina gasped. "I'm so sorry." Mina and Raye looked mortified. Raye walked over to Serena and whispered in her ear. "There is good news about your parents. The princess was here and she isn't dead." Raye tried to help. Serena went dead silent. "What's so good about that?" Serena was confused now. "Well, the every future ruler of the Moon Kingdom has a special power. Queen Serenity's is immortality and Princess Serenity's is life. She can heal this whole town when we find her." Raye was hoping this would cheer up Serena. "I don't think she will be able to." *How am I going to save all those people when I don't have any magic powers, yet alone powers of life?* "How do you know the princess is still alive?" Serena continued. "We found a necklace that Queen Serenity gave the princess when she was a little baby," Serena's patted her pocket with her hand, she'd dropped the necklace! "It was in some ashes at that building." Raye was pointing to the place Serena had grown up. "Anyway the necklace has a Moon Symbol inside and when the princess dies the symbol dies to. The symbol represents the princesses power." Raye was beaming as she was telling Serena the good news. Serena felt herself go week at the knees. Now that Darien knew she was the Moon Princess it couldn't stay a secret long and she didn't want everyone to find out who she really was. They all expected her to be some kind of miracle maker. "Guys we better get back to the palace or else everyone will start going histerical from being worried." Serena took charge and Mina, Raye, Darien and herself all began on their way back to the palace. Mina and Raye were walking a few metres behind Darien and Serena. "Serena?" Serena turned to look at Darien. They had been walking for the last an hour without saying a word. "Yes your higness?" Serena was still angry at him from earlier. "Earlier on." Serena knew where this conversation was heading."I saw a..mark? on your forehead. The symbol of the moon. Uhhh, that symbol is only on members of the lunar royal family." Darien turned to see Serena's reaction. "The symbol of the moon? On my forehead, are you sure?" Serena was trying hard not to reveal her secret. "Yeh the symbol was on your forehead. I know your the princess. Mina and Raye found the necklace later in the same spot you were before. Here." Darien held his hand out with the neclace draped over his fingers. "My necklace!?" Serena was surprised that Darien had bothered to get it for her. She slipped it back into her pocket but this time she'd make sure she wasn't as careless with it as before. "I guess you know my secret now. You won't tell anyone will you?" Serena looked hopefully at Darien's face. "Why should I keep that a secret? I knew you couldn't be a normal woman. A normal woman couldn't have become a guard!" Darien liked having power over Serena for once. Serena looked mortified, she had thought Darien could be decent at times, but this just proved her wrong. *This is hopeless now. Everyone's going to find out who I am and be dissapointed because I'm not the wonderful person they expect the princess to be. I'm going to have to give up being a guard, I'll probably end up being guarded! I'm going to have to marry the..* "You can't tell anyone who I am!" Serena startled Darien with her sudden accusation. "And why not?" Darien asked in an arrogant voice. "You'll have to marry me! Queen Alexia and Serenity have it all arranged. As soon as the princess is found she will marry you and Earth will join the Silver Millenium. If this does not go as planned Queen Serenity and the forces of the whole millenium will destroy Earth. So it is almost certain you will end up having to marry me!" Serena looked satisfied at Darien's confused look.
