Skate Your Dreams Away By Rain Ayo ( rain_ayo@hotmail.com ) Serena glided out onto the ice. It had been a while since she had been on the ice. The first time was almost ago year in fact. The last time, of course when Darien was still brainwashed and she was fighting those transformed figure skaters. She had made sure she got more and more practice after that. She wanted to be more like her old self. In some way to please Darien. Although her friends never knew it, she took lessons every weekend. She had gotten so good, that her teachers were begging her to tryout for the big competitions that were held often. She wasn't interested in them though. She was skating her memories out. She started off slow. Simply gliding along. Then she arabesqued into a turn. The music she requested to be played was soft and sad. She skated off to prepare for a triple axel. Not the first time she tried, but she still hadn't gotten it down yet. Jump...one...two...three! She landed it perfectly. Too bad none of her teachers would know. Then she heard someone aplauding her in the stands. Serena turned around slowly. She hadn't thought anyone knew she was there, except maybe her mother. Darien came out onto the ice. Serena played with the hem of her skirt, which was slightly longer than her fuku's. Her face was bright red. She hung her head so that she didn't have to look at him. She saw his feet below her. Darien smiled at her. He hadn't expected to find her at this place. Her mother said that she'd been coming here every weekend, which surprised him. He realized why she must be doing this. Not only to seem more like the Princess she was ( and still is ), but possibly to try to remember her old life. Darien put his hand out toward her. She looked at his hand and then up at his face. He was smiling down at her. She placed her hand in his and he gently brought her close. He spun her around, so that her back was to his chest. They skated off, just holding onto one another. Just like they used to. Enjoying each others company. Enjoying the fact that they were no longer alone in the universe anymore. "I'm surprised Meatball Head. You haven't fallen yet," Darien said. "I've been practicing," Serena said bashfully. He squeezed her gently. "I'm proud," he said. "You've worked really hard." She looked up at him unsure. "Nobody was supposed to know...but I guess if someone was going to know I'm glad it was you...and not Rei...she'd have a field day with this...," Serena mumbled. He smiled and turned her around. "I just wanted to see you. I didn't mean to intrude," he said. "No! That's okay. I don't mind really. I was just getting used to doing this all by myself," Serena said blushing again. He smiled. "Well how about you show me what you've been doing?" he asked. This made her turn even redder. ( Poor Serena. She's never been in the lime light like this before. ) None the less, she skated off. She was going to impress Darien. Make him really regret all the times he called her a klutz. She started off with some turns and the like. Those things had taken her the longest to master. So they were the big things for her. Then she did a few jumps, landing more than she ever did. The music had changed from the soft, sad song from before to a faster "dancier" type of song. She skated the whole song. Soon forgetting about the audience and concentrating hard on mastering all the moves. When the song ended she came back to reality and heard Darien clapping loudly. He went over to her. "Serena, your as good as you've ever been," he said. "I'm very proud of you." She smiled trying not to blush more. "I bet I could skate circles around you now," she said. "Is that so? Well come and get me then," he challenged. He skated off quickly and she chased after him. She caught up to him quickly. She circled around him and then skated a short distance away. She faced him laughing softly. "I told you so!" she said. "Well then, we'll have to see if you can hold your own," Darien said heading towards her. She had already started off toward the opposite end of the ice rink. She was really too fast for him. He'd been a bit out of practice. Well he hadn't skated since he was maybe 13. She made him chase her around the rink for about five laps. Then he gave up. "All right. You haven't changed. Your still better than me," Darien said trying to breathe. She came up from behind him and spun around to his front. "Well if you weren't so stubborn you'd have less trouble breathing now," she said. Darien lunged at her and Serena ducked. She skated around him and then went off. He spun around quickly and chased her. She spun around and charged at him. That took him by surprise for a moment. He turned to the side and let her go by him, but he grabbed her around the waist. She tried to sqwirm her way out of his arms. As she did he simply held her tighter. "Don't think your getting away that easily," Darien said with a smirk. Serena turned around and smiled. "Well if your going to be that mean," she said. She kissed him. "I like being mean," Darien said with a smirk. "But seriously, you should know that you don't have to do this for me." "Well...I wanted to...," Serena said blushing. He smiled. "I know. Would it be so terrible for you to have company every once an a while?" he asked. Serena's eyes shined brightly. "I'd like that," she said. "I guess the days of solitary skating Serena are done." "Is that such a bad thing?" Darien asked. "Of course it's not," Serena said enveloping him in a hug. "I'm glad," he said tilting her chin up towards his face. He kissed her gently. A song started to play. It's soft melody seemed to say a lot about their relationship. How they needed a break once and a while. But through thick and thin they would do anything in their power for each other. ***************************************************** That's it. A little story. I was watching the Figure Skating Pairs and just had to write this. It's just one of those things. Just one of those things...I think people forget about. You know like the sleeping spell that one of the sisters droids put on Sailor Moon. You know major parts of the relationship that people seem to forget. People seem to forget ( or state differently ) bits and pieces of their past relationships. They seem to forget the little things, I guess is what I'm trying to say. *_* Well I'll stop my ranting. I hope you enjoyed this little story! Oh one little thing. I didn't mention it in this little story, but the song that ends this story you will find mentioned in Behind the Scenes ( another of my stories ). It's been declared the theme song for the story. Ah! Hold you in suspense there, ne? Enjoy! Rain Ayo ( rain_ayo@hotmail.com ) http://members.tripod.com/~Rain_Ayo/index.html
