Hidden Love - Part 3 By: Roo E-mail: roovel@aol.com "Don't be silly, Sam," Darien said as he kept filling the box. "I don't believe you," Sam said with a sly smile. "Is that it?" Darien asked, gesturing to the decorations, wanting the subject to change. "I guess so," she said as she got up from her kneeling position, and carried a small box toward the door, as Darien carried a larger box. They placed the boxes beside the Christmas Tree in the living room. "Where's Ben?" Darien asked Serena, who was seated on one of the living room couches. "He went home to put up his Christmas Tree." Serena smiled. Darien nodded. "Now we get to decorate the tree!" Sam exclaimed, as she stared to put decorations on the tree. "Aren't you going to put some on?" Serena asked Darien as he was walking up the staircase. "No, I'll leave it up to you two," Darien said, not looking back. "Okay." Serena frowned a little then went back to decorating the tree. Darien went up to his room, opened his journal, and started writing. December 6th, Another boring Wednesday. Dad bought a Christmas tree, and Serena and Sam are decorating it at the moment. Sam asked me if I loved Serena. I don't love her, but I am worried about her seeing Ben. Ben double crosses his girlfriends all the time. He told me that once, and he is probably going to do that to Serena, which I don't want him to do because Serena is so happy with him, and if he does that to Serena, she will be upset. I don't like to see her upset, for some reason. I don't even like her that much, 'cause she is so annoying. Darien. He put his journal back in the drawer and laid down on he bed, falling asleep. Darien woke up about three hours later to a tune being played on the piano. He got up and descended the stairs, and saw the Christmas trees decorated in tinsel, coloured balls, all kind of different ornaments, and also a golden star on the top of the tree. He walked in to the family room to see his parents and Sam seated on the couches. Serena was seated on a piano stool, playing a beautiful song. Darien seated himself next to Sam, and listened. "Woo hoo! Go Serena!" Sam said as Serena completed the song, clapping loudly. Serena smiled. "Thank you, Sam." "That was absolutely beautiful, Serena," Martha said. "You can learn a lot from her, you know, Darien." David said. "I'm sure I can," Dairen mumbled. "Aren't you going on that business thing?" Darien asked his mum and dad. "Oh yes! We are going to miss our flight if we don't go now." David stood up. "Be good, dear," Martha said to Sam as she hugged her. "Please don't go, Mummy." "I'll be back in a few of days. Don't worry." "And remember, Darien," David said. "No parties." "Yes dad." David and Martha went outside where a taxi was waiting for them after saying their good byes. "Don't cry," Serena said to Sam who was in her arms. "Mummy will be back in a while." "I want mummy!" "Stop whining, Sam," Darien said as they made their way upstairs and sat in the rumpus. "Don't be so mean to her, Darien," Serena said. "I'm sure you were like this when you were younger. Probably even worse." Darien's parents came back on December 21st, which they hadn't plan on doing. "You said you were going to come back in few days!" Sam cried in her mother's lap. Serena, Darien and his family were seated in the family room. "I'm sorry, Sam," Martha said. "Daddy's work had a few problems in it which we had to fix. "So what really happened, Dad?" Darien asked his dad who had leaned back on the sofa and closed his eyes. "Everything went hay wire." David stood up. "I think I'll go have a nap." He walked out of the family room. "I need one too," Martha said. She also left the family room. "HMI," hummed Serena. "They've had two tough weeks." "Yeah," Darien agreed. "I have to go shopping and buy some Christmas presents." "You haven't done that already?" Sam asked, surprised. Don't forget to get one extra for Serena," Sam said as he exited the room. "I won't forget," Darien said loudly, then went out the door. "You didn't have to tell him that, Sam," Serena said. "He doesn't have to give me one if he doesn't want to." "Yeah, but aren't you getting him something?" "Yeah..." "See!" She smiled. Next night... "Aren't you getting dressed, dear?" asked Martha, walking into the family room wearing a long black dress. "Mmm?" Serena hummed, looking up at Martha from her book. "You look nice, Martha," Serena said with a smile. "Why thank you," she said as she sat on the couch. "Don't you want to go?" "Go where?" Serena asked, puzzled. "The Davidson’s invited us over to their *pre-Christmas* party, at their mansion. You have never met the Davidson’s, have you?" "No, I haven't." "Darien was supposed to tell you, about the party. Would you like to go?" "Yeah, sure." Serena smiled. "You *did* bring a formal dress, didn't you?" Serena nodded. "Serena? Honey, we are running late," Martha said up to the void from the foyer, where she and her family (except David) were waiting. "I'm coming!" Serena said loudly. "Hold on a sec." Two minutes later, Serena rushed down in a slim white dress which hugged her perfect figure. It had a high waist-line and half- inch straps. Her hair was up in a French twist, and she wore inch- high white shoes. "I'm sorry I am late," she said as she reached the bottom of the stairs. "I didn't really have enough time." "You look *very* pretty, Serena," Sam said. "You look very pretty yourself," Serena said, with a smile. Sam beamed. She wore a red dress that went to her knees. It had frills at the hem of the sleeves and skirt. Darien couldn't seem to take his eyes off Serena, he thought. He wore a black tuxedo. "Are we ready - don't you look lovely, Serena," David said as he entered the foyer, trying putting on his watch. "Thank you," Serena said, as she blushed slightly. David wore a black tuxedo. "Well, better get going," he said as he headed to the door. They all climbed into a grey Mercedes, and drove through the city. Serena sat at the left of the back seat, Darien at the right and Sam in the middle. When Darien looked out the window, Serena would sneak a peek at him. Serena thought. Serena thought as she stared at Darien. Sam, in the middle, was very confused. Sam thought. Darien turned around from the window to see two big blue eyes staring at him. "Beautiful scenery, isn't it?" Serena asked uncomfortably as she shifted her eyes from Darien to the window. "Yeah, *very* beautiful," he said as he turned around and watched the passing dull grey buildings. He knew Serena had been watching him, and laughed inwardly. They reached their destination in one hour to a mansion, lit up by many lights. "Wow," Serena breathed. "It's big," she said as she exited the car. "It is," David said, as everyone exited the car. "They own a huge business around the globe." They entered the house to be greeted by a very slim woman with long dark hair and violet eyes. "David! Martha!" the woman exclaimed, embracing them both. "Nice to see you, and you too, darling," she said in a posh accent as she embraced Darien. "You too, Mrs Davidson." He smiled. "Don't you look lovely dear!" she said as she ruffled Sam's hair affectionately. Sam was very annoyed, and hated people who did that to her hair. "Oh! And who is this lovely creature," she said, gesturing toward Serena. "My, you are beautiful." "Thank you," Serena said, looking down whilst she blushed. "This is Serena Tsukino," David said. "Serena, Reane, Reane, Serena." "Nice to meet you, Mrs Davidson," Serena said, nodding her head slightly. "Don't be so formal, darling," she said. "Just called me Reane." Serena nodded. "Well don't just stand around here, go and enjoy!" They walked down the hallway to a huge ballroom where people were dancing and talking. Serena walked beside Darien. "Do you think Ben is going to be here?" Serena asked. Darien looked annoyed. "No, I don't think so," he said coldly. "What's that supposed to mean?" she asked as they arrived at a table crowed with food on it. Serena took a plate and place some food on it. "The Davidson’s had a slight problem with the Tomoi's." "Oh, really?" Serena said as she bit into a spring roll. "Hm mmm," Darien hummed. "I don't really know what happened." "HMI," Serena hummed, her mouth full. "You have a little bit of pastry there," Darien said, pointing to something above Serena's top lip. "Where?" she said, placing the plate down on the table. "Here..." Darien said as he placed his right hand on her left cheek and wiped away the bit of pastry with his thumb. "Oh..." Serena said, his hand caressing her cheek. Once again she was mesmerised with his deep blue eyes. "Darien, Serena!" Martha said, coming over to them with a camera in her hand. Darien's hand immediately dropped to his side. "You're under a piece of mistletoe," Martha said. "Really?" Darien said, not interested. "Come on, you two. Do it for old time sakes," Martha said with a smile. "Do what?" Serena asked casually. She certainly knew the answer. "Kiss! Come on!" Martha said, still smiling. Darien and Serena looked at each other. "Why not?" Darien said with a smile. Serena nodded as Darien lowered his head and kissed her on the lips. Just before they broke off, there was a flash. "You didn't..." Darien said to Martha. Martha nodded. "Got go." "Mum!" Darien said as he followed his mum. Serena thought as she touched her lips. "Serena?" somebody asked her. Serena turned around and saw Rya wearing a long dress which hugged her figure to her hips, then flowed down. "Hi, Rya," Serena said, smiling, "How are you?" Rya asked. "I'm fine." Serena couldn't help notice a sly smile playing on Ray’s lips. "What's so funny?" Serena asked. "Oh, nothing," she said, still smiling, "Come on, tell me." "I saw you and Darien a minute ago. You're a good match for him." Serena blushed slightly. "He's not my boyfriend." "Huh? So why did you...?" Rya asked, puzzled. "Mistletoe," Serena said, pointing up. "Oh." Rya smiled, taking a glass from the table and pouring juice into it. "I already have a boyfriend," Serena said. "Really? Who's the guy?" Rya sipped the juice. "Ben Tommy." Rya immediately spat the juice back into the glass from shock. "Did you say Ben Tommy?!" "Yeah..." Rya put the glass down, grabbed Serena's wrist and dragged her through the crowd in the big ballroom. "You know this place quite well," Serena shouted over the loud music. "I live here," Rya replied. "You do?" Serena said as they reached wide marble hallway. "Yep." They walked into a big bedroom where young ladies were seated on the bed, chairs and cushions on the floor. "Hi, Serena!" Amy said. She wore a blue short sleeved blouse and a long blue skirt. "So what was the rush?" Serena asked Rya once they were comfortably seated on the cushions. "Dump Ben," Rya said, seriously. "What?! Why would I do that?" "He just uses you, Serena." "He wouldn't do that." "He used me," Rya said, softly. "You? Is that why your family and his..." "Yes." "But Ben said that he never had a girlfriend since the last time I saw him." "He says that all the time. Most of my friends fell for *his* tricks. Just ask them." "Oh..." After Serena had talked to most of Ray’s friends, she was puzzled. She has thought that Ben loved her, now she was wondering if she really loved him. She found herself at the doors of the balcony from the ballroom, and saw a figure leaning over the railing. "Hey, Darien," Serena said as she walked over and stood next to him. "Hi." He smiled. "You've known Ben for a long time, haven't you? Did he have any other girlfriends here?" "Yeah, why?" "Well, he said that I was his first and last girlfriend," Serena said. "You can't believe everything *he* says," Darien said as he smiled. "Oh..." Serena frowned. "Hey, don't look so sad," Darien said, placing an arm around her shoulders. "I'm sure he loves you," he whispered. For some reason, he hated himself for saying that. She looked up at him and smiled. "Beautiful morning, isn't it?" Darien said as he stepped outside in the backyard where Serena was. "Yeah," Serena said. She wore a short blue skirt and a light blue t-shirt. "What have you planned for today?" Darien asked casually. He wore jeans and white short sleeved shirt. "I'm spending the whole day with Ben," she said, dreamily. "Really. Where do you plan to go?" "Well, first he's going to show me the Olympic site, then we are going to go to the Opera House, and have lunch there at the restaurant, then we are going to Centre Point and then for dinner we are going to go to Kings Cross..." "Kings Cross!?!" Darien asked, unbelievably. "You can't go there!" "And why not. You don't control my life." "Serena, listen to me," he said, taking hold of her hands. "Kings Cross is not the place to go. There have been many murders, drug dealings and many other things. If I had known Ben was going there, I would have stopped him. It's a dangerous place, Serena." "Your jealous, Darien!" Serena said loudly, yanking her hands away from him. "Ben wouldn't take me to a place like that! He cares about me!” "He's not all what he seems. He used every girlfriend he ever had.” "You're just jealous of Ben, 'cause he has a girlfriend and you don't! Grow up, Darien!" She stormed into the house and left with Ben who was waiting for her at the front door. "Wasn't expecting you for another two hours," Darien said, to Serena not looking up from the magazine he was reading. He was seated on the couch in the family room. Serena was silent as she sat down on the other couch and started to sob. "Serena?" Darien said as he sat down next to her and placed an arm around her shoulders. "Are you all right?" "How...how did you know?" Serena sobbed. "Know about what?" "Ben...he doesn't care about me..." She sobbed. "No one cares about me." "It's okay, Serena," he whispered and kissed her forehead. "I care about you," he smiled. "I, I thought...Ben loved me...but now I...hate *him*." She sobbed. "No one...loves...me." "Don't say that, Serena. I loved you the first time I set eyes on you," Darien whispered. TO BE CONTINUED... I'm *really* sorry this was late, but I was moving house last week and then the week before my computer was in service. Someone e-mailed me and asked if Serena (in this story) reflects my life. Ummm...I don't think so. I'm only 13 years old and if I had a boyfriend, I would be dead by now. But I do go to a college (private school). And when you e-mail me, *please* tell me where you read my stories. Thanks! roovel@aol.com C ya! Roo.
