"A Love Carol" A Sailor Moon Christmas Tale By Sailor November PART TWO, Revised <>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<> Mamoru blinked his eyes in disbelief. "I really became too involved in that Christmas story." He said to himself as he chuckled. He looked at the door knocker again, but Queen Serenity's metal face still stared straight at him. Mamoru shook his head, and entered the apartment. Avoiding the caffeine he did not need, Mamoru skipped his cup of coffee and headed straight to bed. He was very tired from following and arguing with Usagi all evening. It was still bothering him. As Mamoru headed down the hall towards his bedroom, right through the solid door suddenly came a ghostly figure, with a long silky dress flowing down to the ground. The ghostly figure had a glow to it, bringing out the shine in it's long silky pigtails. Pigtails? Mamoru realized that this ghostly figure was in the form of his beloved's past mother, Queen Serenity. Mamoru was a bit startled as the ghostly Queen Serenity spoke. "In our past lives, Prince, you remember me as Queen Serenity. But also, now after I gave my life to my daughter and her court, I watch over you, my daughter, and her loved ones. It is my fate to guide you to your destiny. Prince Endymion, I am here tonight to warn you that you may yet have a chance of escaping the alternate destiny you have steered towards. You will be haunted by three spirits. This is the last you will see me for a while, for I trust you will see what is to happen. I wish you well with my daughter, Prince of Earth." <>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<> Mamoru awoke that night in pitch darkness. The light of the moon was no where to be seen, and the city lights dimly showed from his window. Suddenly, the curtains to this window were drawn aside, and his room was filled with a blinding light. As Mamoru's eyes adjusted to this light, he realized that this light streamed from the unearthly visitor who drew the curtains. "I am the Ghost of your Past life, here to guide you through what it has brought," it said with a deep voice. "Rise and walk with me." Mamoru absent-mindedly threw the covers on top of him aside, and stood by the ghost. The ghost smiled at Mamoru, and snapped his fingers casually. Suddenly, Mamoru and the ghost were standing in a large stone hall, presumably in a palace. The hall seemed to be familiar, but he couldn't quite place it. But then it hit him. It was in the palace where he first grew up that they stood in. Down the hall, he recognized his room door. It was his old home. So many memories fled back to him as he gazed upon the marvel of the palace. He snapped back into reality as a tall and handsome man passed him and the ghost, ignoring them. "Sir!" Mamoru yelled, finding the man familiar. The man ignored Mamoru, which left Mamoru feeling a bit insulted. "The man cannot hear you, for we are just observing." Said the ghost. "Oh, I can see." Said Mamoru. The man that passed them burst into the room that Mamoru recognized as his own, looking as if he had an important purpose. Ignoring the curiosity of why the man seemed so familiar, Mamoru walked towards the room after the ghost to see what was happening. Inside the room, a younger prince laid on his bed, looking out the window to the moon, which was bright enough to be visible during the day. The man that had passed Mamoru and the ghost looked happily to the prince, and spoke. "Son! I'm happy to tell you that the princess and her mother have arrived for a visit." "SON?" Mamoru said to the ghost. "Yes, that is your father from the Silver Millennium. Do you remember?" Mamoru smiled happily, and nodded yes. If you looked closely enough, you could see a small tear threatening to drop from Mamoru's eye. "She's here?" Prince Endymion said happily, shifting his attention to his father from the Moon. "Yes, right now. Come, greet her." "You bet!" Prince Endymion said enthusiastically. The Prince shot out of the room, his father following. Again, the ghost casually snapped his fingers, and suddenly the two were standing where the Princess had just arrived with her mother. Prince Endymion came running down the hall, and their embrace was not one to forget. "So Mamoru, as you now remember, this is you as a teenager... your first time." Said the ghost, chuckling. "I'm very sure you remember Princess Serenity." "Yes." Mamoru said passionately. "Then what I am to show you tonight is not going to be too pleasant. I just want you to know that." "I understand." With a snap, it was the next evening, and they were on the Moon. Mamoru was not happy that the ghost was skipping some of the more pleasant memories that they could watch be made.* The ghost pointed up, and Mamoru followed his gaze. Princess Serenity stood on her balcony, staring at the Earth. "She stared at the Earth, as you stared at the Moon, Mamoru." Said the ghost. "Your love was equal." "Tonight is the night it all ended, isn't it." Mamoru said painfully. "You tell me, Mamoru." As the ghost spoke, a figure ran towards Princess Serenity's balcony. Mamoru recognized this figure as his former self.. and he knew what was to take place that evening. "Princess!" The Prince Yelled. "Prince Endymion." The Princess Said happily. "I have missed you." "And I you." The prince Said in the same, romantic tone. Their attention was stolen by the yelling of palace guards. "Princess, the Moon is in great danger." The prince Said quickly. "The evil Queen Beryl attacked Earth, in goal of galaxy conquest, and is now headed towards the moon." He looked up into her eyes. "I must go, for the guards do not trust anyone now." "Wait..." The princess said, worried, as the prince ran off. "Ghost, please, I need to see no more. I know what happens, I remember it as if it were yesterday. Please, I don't need to go through the pain of seeing, let alone the memory of it." "Mamoru, I am here to teach you a lesson. You must see, for it is crucial in what you will learn tonight." The Ghost said seriously. Mamoru could not answer, for now above him laid the scene of their death. "I can see why she'd hang on your shoulder, Prince. Come. Come and reign by my side as king of the galaxy, which I am to conquer today!" Queen Beryl said evilly. "Never." Prince Endymion snapped. "Who would want to be with a snake like you, all ugly and full of bitterness!" Princess Serenity stood, grasping onto his outstretched, protecting arm, scared greatly. "Fine. It is a shame I will have to end such beauty." The Queen said with great jealousy and hatred in her voice. With that, the queen threw out her arms with a evil bellow, and blasted nega-energy at Prince Endymion. He was flung into the air like he was as weightless as a feather. Princess Serenity screamed 'NO!' and ran after him. "NO!" Prince Endymion yelled. "Stay back there!" "NO!" Prince Serenity cried. "I want to be with you!" With a bountiful leap, Princess Serenity flung herself up into the Nega-energy storm that held Prince Endymion in the air. "Serenity!" Endymion yelled, reaching his hand out to her. "Endymion!" Serenity cried, reaching for him too. Just as their hands touched, Queen Beryl shot a humongous blast of her harshest energy at the two lovers, killing them. As the two laid lifeless in the sky, Serenity's mother, Queen Serenity, screamed and fell to her knees below them. She used the last of her strength to send Princess Serenity and her court to the future, sacrificing her life for theirs. But also sent with the princess was The nega-force, which included Queen Beryl. The bodies of everyone were incased in energy, and shot to earth. With that, Queen Serenity fell to the ground, lifeless. Mamoru stood there, in front of all the death and destruction, wanting to scream and rip the hearts out of the ones that did all of this to him and his loved ones... his Serenity. The ghost saw this in his eyes. "You have now seen again what has been. Remember this in your journey through life. Take not for granted what Queen Serenity gave you." With that, the ghost snapped his fingers and disappeared. Mamoru's eyes shut slowly, in pain from the burning tears... only to open with himself back in his apartment room, in the current time. He sat up to find that he had been lying down. But hadn't he just seen the end of the Silver Millennium? It seemed so real. Must have been a dream. But just as that thought went through his mind, he realized his surroundings. Hadn't he just been in his apartment room? He was sure of it! He was now in a park! It seemed familiar... yes... the park where Usagi and He used to always visit together. Mamoru felt a tap on his shoulder. Standing behind him was a man about his age, looking happy and cheerful. "Come, Mamoru! I am the ghost of your present life. I have much to show you, friend." Mamoru followed this ghost, as he had the last one, down the grassy hill that laid before them. After a couple minutes' walk, the ghost stopped. "Mamoru, look in front of us." In front of the ghost and Mamoru stood the building in which Mamoru had spent his orphanage years. "You remember this place, right?" Said the Ghost, resting his arm back down to his side. Painful and lonely memories flashed through Mamoru's mind. He remembered the doctor telling him that he and his parents had been in a car accident.. and his parents hadn't survived. Mamoru had amnesia. He grew up there, with no family to stay with, for all of his child hood. He had one friend.. Fiore... but Fiore had to leave shortly after they met. Mamoru spent all of his childhood in silence, with no one to really give him the love that he needed so badly.. and no one for Mamoru to return love to. "Pain. Loneliness. Friendlessness. Hai, I remember." "What filled this void of pain and loneliness, Mamoru?" Before Mamoru could answer, the ghost snapped it's fingers. Now they stood on a street in 10th District Tokyo. People passed by, but no one saw them, for they were just observing. "I recognize this area of town, but what significance does it hold?" Mamoru asked. "Look ahead of us." Walking out of a jewelry store was a young Usagi, maybe 13 or 14 to Mamoru's view. She looked very disturbed, and was crumpling up a piece of paper. Walking down the sidewalk coming behind her was a younger Mamoru, wearing some sexy shades. "A 30? Mom is going to kill me!" Usagi whined. She threw the crumpled up paper behind her only to hit Mamoru on the head. "Hey watch it Meatball Head!" He yelled rudely. "Remember this?" The ghost said, smiling. "How could I forget?" Mamoru said, letting out a chuckle. <>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<> The ghost took Mamoru to many events that occurred in his current life. From the defeat of Beryl to the crusade of Alan and Ann. He saw the scouts and himself learn of their future in Crystal Tokyo, and the moment he learned of his first daughter, Chibi-Usa. He saw the Outer Senshi appear, and his disastrous Trip to college in America. He saw Usagi beat Galaxia, and he saw the Starlights and the Princess Leave, only to come back. To view all of these events, again, brought so many flooding emotions back into Mamoru's mind. So much of his life had been so painful; yet the good times and wonderful memories with his Usako and friends made up for it all. But then, the ghost took Mamoru to one of the most crucial parts of this tour. What had happened over the past month. "Look around you, Mamoru." The ghost of the present said. "This is my apartment." Mamoru responded instantly, recognizing the all too familiar surroundings. "Yes," said the ghost. "Now, watch. Tell me if you recognize THIS." Mamoru blinked in confusion, as he saw the image of himself sitting on the couch, studying a text book. A cool breeze flew in from the open balcony window, bringing Mamoru's attention to the beautiful blonde standing there. As Usagi stood there on Mamoru's balcony, the Mamoru that had traveled there with the ghost of the present realized what they were there to see. Usagi let out a frustrated sigh, and stepped inside to Mamoru. "Mamo-chan? Why don't you stop studying for a bit and come out here with me?" But the Mamoru sitting on the couch did not hear her plea. "Mamo-chan?" Mamoru mumbled to himself, still not hearing his girlfriend. Usagi shook her head, and stepped over to where he was sitting. She gently took the book out of his hands, making sure to keep his place. With a frustrated, yet caring voice, she stated, "Mamo-chan, I came here to spend time with you, not your balcony. Can you please stop studying for just a little while?" Mamoru smiled, and replied, "I'm so sorry Usako, but I have an exam in two days, and I have got to study. I'll be on my Christmas vacation after that. Can we get together then?" Usagi frowned and looked down. He took the book from her hands, and set it open on the coffee table. "Ouch," Mamoru whispered to the ghost of the Present, "Did I really say that to Usako?" "I'm afraid so, Mamoru. I don't think you meant to hurt her, but you sure did." The ghost replied. "Usako..." Mamoru whispered. "Sure, Mamo-chan... But you owe me," She said in a disappointed voice. "You're on." He replied vaguely as he picked the book up and sat back on the couch. "Bye, Usako." With that, she took her purse and walked to the door. She opened the door half way, and turned around to say a final goodbye. But, to her dismay, his attention was once again directed at the text book. It truly disappointed her that he wouldn't even give her a kiss goodbye. "My god, I didn't even give her a kiss goodbye..." Mamoru whispered to himself. "And this is only the beginning.." The ghost said. "I'm so sorry Usako... if only you could forgive me..." Mamoru said to Usagi, knowing she could not see or hear him. "Goodbye, Mamo-chan." She said with less cheer than usual. He didn't hear her. Usagi just gave up, slamming the door as she left. Suddenly, the ghost snapped his fingers, and the scene changed again. They were still in the same spot, but the time of day had changed. The darkness of night disappeared and rays of sunlight shined through the window. The doorbell rang, and when Mamoru opened the door, Usagi's giant grin made the room even brighter. But the brightness did not stay very long. Mamoru watched the fight happen again... and realized how badly he had hurt her. "Oh Usako.." Mamoru whispered, realizing what he had done. <>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<> Ha! ^_^ Moment of truth, ey Mamo-chan? Well I hoped you guys liked it!
