***WARNING! WARNING! THIS WHOLE FANFIC DISSES RAYE, IF YOU ARE A RAYE-LOVER GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!!*** Ok, now that that's settled....Fanfic attempt # 5 is here!!!! This is my first try at writing a serious fic.. and its kind of a romance-deceit-bitch slap type. It's from the Point of View of Lita and Darien and takes place in the first season, right after the episode, "Jupiter Comes Thundering In". There is no transforming, no youmas, and NO Vince.......ahhh.......Sorry. Its personal. Anyways, I'd like to thank MarbleNito, The gods in heaven, Toby Proctor and Terri Hawkes( I love you guys!^_~) and last but not least, my dog Gucci who ate my orange marker. "Secrets" by Sailor Tampa ~~~>SailorTMPA@aol.com "...and on the eighth day......God created Darien......" "So, Serena, you going to that big party on Saturday?" I asked. My blonde friend looked up at me with an air of uneasiness surrounding her."I-I don't know Lita....I don't even have a date." I placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. "So what? Neither will Amy and me....c'mon..." I urged. She has to go to this party. If I knew Serena, she'd mope around for months if she didn't go. A thought, a *brilliant* thought, I might add, came to me. I cleared my throat. "Besides," I started non-chalantely,"He might be there." Serena immediately blushed bright red and turned away from me, a slight smile on her lips. "Allright, I'll go!" she enthused, her eyes still sparkling from the mention of "him". "Good." I smiled warmly. "But now we've gotta get you a dress!" I grabbed her hand and we started off towards the mall. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "C'mon, Darien, when are you going to have a little fun in your life?" Andrew asked jokingly. He's been bothering non-stop for the past few days about going to this dumb party with him since Rita couldn't make it. "Working late" was always her excuse. Yeah, working late allright, in Dr. Bennet's bedroom. I do like Rita alot, but she's like the town bicycle, everybody's been for a ride. Besides, I really hate social gatherings."Whadda ya say Dar? There might even be some cute girls there." he winked at me and poked me with his elbow annoyingly. I sighed and rolled my eyes. That's exactly what I wanted to avoid..all those girls fawning all over me and making me uncomfortable. I shuddered at the thought. Anyways, I couldn't betray her....my dream princess who I loved with all my heart... who needed me so desperately. The only girl who has a place like that in my heart is-- "Sooooo?" Andrew drawled anxiuosly, snapping me out of my thoughts, "You going or what?" He flashed me one of those Andrew trademark smiles and I just didn't have the heart to say no. "Allright" I mumbled. "Great!" he exclaimed, slapping me on the back nearly knocking the wind out of me. I put my head in my hands and groaned."What have I gotten myself into......?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Saturday night..... "Wow, Serena, you look great!" Amy complemented, hugging our friend. "Yeah, ditto!" I said. I have to admit it....we all looked great! Amy was wearing a light blue sleaveless dress reaching just past her knees while I was wearing a darker, kinda navy blue-ish dress that reached all the way to the floor. Serena, I'd have to say, looked the best. She was wearing a gorgeous white satin one, that exposed all of her shoulders. It didn't touch the ground, but stopped right at her ankles. It was the last one the store had and we were pretty fortunate it was Serena's size. "Hey, where's Raye?" Amy asked worriedly. "Oh, she said she'd meet us there." I told them. "We'd better get going." As we walked I started thinking about Raye. Then it dawned on me. "Oh no!" I groaned aloud. Serena and Amy both stopped and stared at me. "What's the matter, Lita?" Serena asked me, genuinely concerned. I shook my head knowing I couldn't tell Serena what was on my mind...I knew she'd be hurt. "Uh, Serena, could I speak to Amy alone for a couple minutes?" I asked. "Sure." she answered and walked off a little ways. I pulled Amy aside. "Amy," I whispered, "What if Darien's there?" She looked at me a little puzzled. "Well, so? What if he is?" she shrugged. I frustatingly shook my head. "And Raye's there?" She gasped and finally realized what I was trying to say. "Oh God...."she muttered. "I guess we'll just have to keep Raye occupied...." she said finally. "But is that long enough?" I asked."Raye loves to torment Serena..this could be just another way for her to do so." "Well, we'll just have to see what happens."Amy sighed. "I suppose..." I said. We rejoined Serena and continued to the party. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "This is so boring...." I muttered under my breath. I've only been here fifteen minutes and all I want to do is go home. Maybe order some pizza, watch Police Academy.....think about her. Take a shower, do my homework....think about her. Go to bed and dream.....about her. I finally realized. My whole daily schedule revovled around her. I would get up in the morning only because I hoped I'd see her ...it was like complete and utter hell if one day passed by and I didn't see her....I sighed contently and leaned against the wall. I felt like I could go on forever when someone caught my eye. "No...." I mumbled pathetically. "Not her, ANYONE but her.. .." I unconciously punched the wall with the back of my fist. Andrew walked over to me and patted my shoulder. "Hey, bud! Raye's here!" I tried to smile to humor my poor friend, but I couldn't. She was the LAST person I wanted to see....I can see it now.....she spots me and gets all giddy, throws her arms around me, and tries to kiss me. And I push her off just in the nick of time. That girl has something majorly wrong with her. She doesn't seem to understand that I am NOT her boyfriend. Hell, I don't even consider her one of my friends. Sure, we went out a couple times, but the only reason I went was because there was a chance we'd run into her....and she'd be jealous and maybe then she'd desire me like I *so* desire her. I know I'm completely, hopelessly, and totally in love with her---and my dream princess. I sigh bitterly. If only I could chose one.... I yell to myself. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Hey look, there's Andrew!" I said as we walked into the main dancing room. "And Darien!" Amy added. "And Raye!" Serena pointed out. Amy and I both gasped simotaniously and turned our heads to see Raye lean ing against the wall. "Let's go say hi!" Serena exclaimed as she started towards Raye. Amy scoffed in disgust."Ugh, look what she's wearing. Gives new meaning to the word tramp, dontcha think?" I just nodded in agreement. Her dress was completely raunchy and she looked as if she'd just got off work on the boulevard. "But now we have a reason to be worried. I guess she hasn't seen Darien yet, or they'd probably be going at right now." I said. "Yes, but..." Amy said as she cocked her head to one side, "I've never even seen Raye and Darien hug....much less kiss." I crossed my arms while I pondered."Ya know Amy, neither have I. But from the way she talks about their relationship...." I was suddenly cut off when Andrew gave me a friendly hug."Hey, Lita! Amy!" he said waving his hand. "Oh hey Andrew! Where's Darien?" I said as I glanced over to where Darien was previuosly, only to find out he was gone. "Oh, he's out getting some fresh air I think..." he said. I put my hand over my heart and exhaled. Andrew glanced over his shoulder and saw Darien coming back inside. "I'll see you two around, ok? Bye!" he said before Amy or I could get a word in edgewise and ran off to meet Darien. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Hey Dar, how you holding up pal?" Andrew asked me. "How do you think !?" I snapped. He looked extremely confused by my sudden outburst; and I was too. "I don't know, you tell me." he said in a low angry voice. I knew exactly why he was angry. Because I never tell him anything anymore. He always asks me what's wrong and I always tell him it's nothing. I scream at myself. I yell again. "Andrew, I've been having these dreams....." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ".......And that's why I've been acting so weird lately." I finished. It wasn't the *complete* reason....but it was a part of it."Do you have any advice?" I asked hopefully. If Andrew was anything, he was a great advice giver. "No." he said flatly."W-What?" I asked with slight confusion. "What advice is there to give? You're in love with the girl from your dream.....so what's wrong?" he stated, shrugging his shoulders. I just stared at him in disbelief with my mouth wide open. I closed my eyes and tried to regain my composure. "What's wrong?" I whispered vehentemly. I felt it fall apart. My will -power. My self-control. The thing that kept me from telling anyone my true feelings."I'm in love with Serena!" I said quietly. Andrew's jaw dropped to the floor, his eyes wide as saucers. He struggled greatly to form his next sentence."Y-Yo-our in l-l-love....." he swallowed and continued hoarsley, "with Serena?" I closed my eyes and nodded slowly. "How long have you been in love with her?" he asked curiously. I looked up with tears forming in my eyes. "Since the first time I saw her...." I whispered. "Since the first time I called her 'Meatball Head'..." Andrew just stared at me with the utmost concern in his eyes . I laughed bitterly. "But how can I love her? I love my princess..or so I thought...but I can't betray her Andrew.....I can't..." I finished softly. "Besides, she would never love me..." I said bitterly. "How can you say that Darien!?" Andrew said as he grasped my shoulders tightly. "Why don't you give it a try? You'll regret it for the rest of your life if you don't." he said. "But my princess--" I started to looked me straight in the eyes. "Darien, far better than any dream girl, is one warm, and caring, and right before your eyes." he said truthfully as he turned me around to look at her--Serena....beautiful Serena. I looked back at him and smiled, and he did the same. I walked through the mob of people and drew quite a bit of attention. I was so determined to win her. The dream princess was forgotten, and the only person who remained in my thoughts was Serena. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I stopped a few feet in back of Serena, she was mingling with Amy.I don't think I've ever been so nervous in my entire life. "Uh, Serena?" I asked nervously. She immediately stopped talking and turned around. Her shoulders drooped as she let out a big sigh. "Yes, Darien?" she said tiredly. I know she thought I was going to bombard her with insults and tease her. Instead, I held out my hand to her. "Would you like to dance?" I asked in the most gentlemenly tone I could muster under my apprehension. Her weary expression turned to surprise and then to what seemed to be....happiness? I thought. The scene that kept replaying in my mind as I walked over there was me, asking her to dance and then her laughing in my face saying, "Why would I ever want to dance with such a conceited jerk?!" And now she was smiling and gazing at me with those gorgeous eyes...I might just drop dead right here...." Of course." she answered me, placing her hand in mine. I silently thought, as if I was talking to the almighty himself, I smiled back at Serena. I led her to the dance floor and we started to dance to the song, "Everybody" by the Backstreet Boys. Hmmm. ....the Backstreet Boys....I wonder how Brian, A.J.,Kevin, Ni-- nevermind. That's a different story for a different time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Geez!" I exclaimed as I glanced at the wall clock. "Those two have been dancing for two hours! I thought for sure Raye would've had a hissy fit by now...seeing Darien's her guy and all....." Amy took another sip of her punch. "Speaking of Raye, where is she?" Amy asked looking around. I spotted a group of guys over Amy's shoulder. Sure enough, Raye was in the middle flirting away. "Oh, she's over there flirting, I guess." I said, picking up a couple grapes from the refreshment table. "Go figure."Amy shrugged. "Hey! Here comes Serena!" she exclaimed pointing at the familiar blonde girl walking over to us. "Hi you guys!" Serena beamed. I swear if her smile got any bigger her face was going to rip in two. "What's up with you and Darien?" I asked, poking her with my elbow. Serena blushed and stared at the floor . "Well......" she started, but never got to finish. At that moment, a fuming Raye pushed Serena back so hard she almost fell to the ground. Amy and I just stood there in shock. "What do you think your doing, Raye?!" I yelled angrily, taking a step forward. Amy quickly grabbed my arm to restrain me. "Stay out of this, Lita!" she snapped and started to say something to Serena. "I cannot believe you, Serena..." she whispered spitefully. "Raye, wh-what did I do?" Serena asked meekly. "Don't play that innocent shit with me you little tramp!"she spat. Serena gasped and took a step back, tears already falling down her cheeks. "How could you....with MY boyfriend."Serena looked as if she realized what Raye was talking about and started to say something. "But I--" Raye interupted her with the worst possible thing a friend could say to another friend. Raye was only inches away from Serena's face. "You betrayed me. I hate you." she whispered viciously, and as if she meant every word." Serena let out a choked sob and quickly ran into the ladies restroom. I could not believe what I had just heard. Amy had instinctively gone after Serena, while I lingered behind. Raye let a small evil grin escape across her mouth as she walked casually back to talk to the group of guys. I was completely lost. I wondered. Well, there was only one way to find out. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I saw Lita walking over to me. Putting down my glass of punch and squaring my shoulders, I anticipated what she was going to say to me. "Um, Darien?" she asked me somewhat unsure. "Can I ask you something?" I exhaled and replied,"Sure." She looked down at the floor and stammered a bit."Why....." she started to say, "Why haven't you been dancing with Raye?" she asked finally, giving me a puzzled look. I was taken aback. "Why would I dance would Raye?" I breathed. I was utterly confused to say the least.< Why on earth would I dance with that floozy who always hangs all over me?> Lita looked just as confused as I was. "But I thought you were her boyfriend?" she stated."Boyfriend?!" I sputtered angrily. My mind clouded with rage. I blinked a few times before continuing."Who told you I was her boyfriend?!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now I was completely lost. All Raye does is sit there and talk about her "boyfriend" Darien, and how in love they are, and how beautiful he says she is, and how everytime they're alone together they have sex and--Reality finally sunk in. It was another one of Raye's lies. I was furious thinking about Serena sitting on the restroom floor, crying her eyes out thinking she's betrayed Raye when she was the one who is and always was doing the betraying. Everything that popped out of that girl's mouth was complete bullshit. And now Darien is another victim of her deceit. That little witch is going to get a piece of my mind..... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lita looked so serious suddenly, all confusion gone from her face, replaced by anger. "She goes around telling everyone you're her boyfriend....her soulmate....her lover." she said sternly, the hate building in her eyes.....and I knew exactly how she felt. I swallowed down the rage rising inside of me. "I see." I said flatly. She nodded quietly and walked away towards the restroom. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I turned away from Darien and decided I should go check on Serena and tell her of what I'd just learned. The shock was wearing off and now I realized I should've known. Raye was a deceitful, manipulative bitch who lied about everything just to make herself look better and torture Serena. Amy and I know Raye hates her..and this proves it. Filling Serena's head with that crap a few minutes ago....and leading Serena to believe that the guy she loves was in love with Raye. She did it just to hurt her. All the pieces started to fit together..... *flashback* (Amy had told Lita of this event a few days prior) "So, where do you guys wanna go?" Amy asked Raye and Serena as they walked down the sidewalk. "How 'bout the arcade!?" Serena interjected enthusiastically. "Dammit, Serena, why *always* the arcade?!" Raye scoffed. Serena looked as if her feelings were hurt, but a smile quickly crept across her face. She clasped her hands together and stared dreamily into space. "Because *he'll* be there..." she sighed. Raye's ears perked up and a menacing smile crossed her lips. "Who?" she inquired, crossing her arms and glaring at her evily. "Darien..." she drawled."Who's Darien?" she mocked, "I thought you liked some guy named Andrew?" Serena wrinkled her nose and shook her head. "Nah! Darien's his friend who always hangs around there. He teases me alot but he *can* be a major sweetheart!" she giggled. "He's also a hunk!" She smiled brightly at Raye who just rolled her eyes and turned away. Amy noticed something glint in Raye's eye, as if she was formulating a plan of some kind....She quickly dismissed the thought and said cheerfully, "Hey! Let's go see my old friend Mr. Baxter at Fairview Park!" "Wicked! I'd love to got to the park!" Serena chirped. *end* As I passed Raye, I found I couldn't even look at her. Instead, I concentrated on helping Serena out. I inhaled a deep breath and pushed the ladies room door open. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I was absolutely livid. I stomped through the crowd angrily, pushing a few people aside in the process. I didn't even bother to apologize... my mind was elsewhere. I spotted Raye leaning up against a wall beside the restrooms with a cocky little smirk on her face. I thought. When I reached her, I grabbed onto her shoulders and slammed her as hard as I could against the wall. The smirk still played across her lips as she spoke to me in a low, taunt voice. "Why, hello Darien...happy to see me?" I sneered and pushed her harder into the wall. "Don't give me your shit you little whore!" I spat. "What in the hell do you think you're doing, telling everyone all this crap about us? We aren 't even friends, Raye!" I yelled. She just glared at me,a frown replacing that smirk that was there seconds ago. "Who did you tell?!" I demanded, shaking her fiercely. I didn't give her a chance to answer before I shook her more violently. "Who?!" The frown quickly washed away with a smile in its place. Before I could say or do anything else, I heard a small sob coming from the ladies room. "But how could I, Amy! With Raye's boyfriend! They love each other!!!" the voice cried. It was Serena. The last two sentences cut me like a knife. As if someone had just reached into my chest and ripped my heart out. "No...." was all I could whisper, so low and fierce it almost scared myself. "You told Serena..." I said as if I was telling myself, as well as her. "And she believed every word." Raye mocked. "Bitch." I whispered vehemtely. I pushed her even further into the wall, which already looked like it was going to have a permenant indentation from where Raye's body was. "I don't want to ever see your face again, get out of my sight." I spat and pushed her to the side. She stood there and rubbed her shoudlers for a while, then stuck her nose in the air and left. I didn't know where she went and frankly, I didn't give a damn. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "No, Serena you've got it all wrong..." I said as I rubbed Serena's back, trying to calm her down a bit. "What?" Serena mumbled quietly. Amy kneeled down by us and handed her a tissue. Serena smiled shakily and then wiped her eyes. "You haven't betrayed Raye,Serena. Darien's not her boyfriend." I said. Serena sniffed as a confused look came over her face. "I-I don't understand..." she started. "How do you know, Lita?"I sighed heavily. "I went over and talked to Darien. H told me that he and Raye were never together, they were barely even friends. Raye just said all those things to make you jealous. She knew--Well, we all know you like Darien." Serena shook her head in disbelief. "But, why? Why would she do something like that to me? She's supposed to be one of my best friends..." she said with visible hurt in her eyes. She started to cry lightly again as she leaned on my shoulder for support. "She's not your friend, Serena." I stated angrily. She nodded weakily and I looked toward Amy who was just as angry as I. After a few moments, Serena stopped and slowly got to her feet. "Hey, Serena....what do you say we go out there and try to have some fun this evening?" Amy suggested. Serena looked at the ground and then smiled brightly. "Yeah.....let's go." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I thought as I, again, pushed through the crowd and made my way onto the balcony. I grabbed the cool railing and hung my head. "What am I going to do?" I muttered. I sighed and turned around, only to see a tall brunette making her way towards me. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ I knew the only way to patch things up was to talk to Darien and explain to him about everything. That I talked to Serena, and suggest that he do the same. He turned around and watched me as I walked to him. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ "How's Serena?" I asked immediatley. Poor Lita didn't even have time to open her mouth before I asked her. Lita flashed me a half smile and then answered. "Well, she's allright now I guess....I told her about Raye."I swallowed hard. "And?" "And...she understands but....." she paused and looked over her shoulder at Serena standing at the buffet table with Amy. "...she's still a little upset and unsure. I mean, Raye *was* one of Serena's best friends...I think you should talk to her. After all, its obvious that you like her, dancing with her for 2 *solid* hours!" she laughed, lightening the mood quite a bit. I felt my cheeks getting red and I turned away for a moment to get myself in check. When I turned back, Lita had a sly grin on her face. I figured she saw my blush at the mention of Serena. I cleared my throat and gave her arm a quick squeeze. "Thanks." I said and she smiled back. I spotted Serena and came up behind her. Her shoulders were slumped and her head was dejectedly down. Amy saw me and turned around smiling. She motioned towards Serena and then walked away. I suddenly got extrememly nervous. I thought trying to motivate myself into doing something other than just standing there. "Serena?" I finally said as I put my hand on her small shoulder. Her head shot up and she whipped around. "Darien!" she exclaimed with her eyes wide. I could see the tear stains still on her face and it infuriated me was all I could think off when I saw how devastated she was. But through all that, she still looked like a godess to me. "Please dance with me..." I asked sincerly as I put my other hand on her right shoulder. She glanced at my hand and then slowly locked gazes with me. It seemed as if all the hurt, pain and anguish she was expieriencing melted away, and was replaced with happiness, care and--no. No it couldn't be the same thing I felt for her....could it? Could she possibly love me? Before I could ponder it any further, she nodded and I led her to the dance floor. I took one of her hands in mine and then clasped the other around her waist, pulling her close. She blushed lightly as I did this and I smiled in response. Just then the music started up. It was a combination of what sounded like a sythesizer and trumpet fanfare.... I couldn't quite place my finger on it, but I know I'd heard the song before. Then I heard the lyrics: Wisemen say, only fools rush in But I can't help falling in love with you.... It seemed so ironic that of all songs, the one that described what I was feeling was played. As the river flows, gently to the sea, Darling so it goes Some things were meant to be.... "Serena?" I asked her quietly. For a moment, she seemed very distracted . I sighed when she didn't respond. I knew what she was thinking about. ....Raye. "Serena," I started. "Forget about her. She was never your friend to begin with." She lowered her head. "I know..." she whispered quietly. "It's not that, its just...." she started again, this time a little nervously. Take my hand Take my whole life too, But I, can't help Falling in love with you She looked up at me as tears started forming in her eyes. I started to get a little worried. "What Serena?" I asked, tilting her chin up to look at me. Her tears flowed freely now, spilling onto my hand where I still cupped her chin. "I love you...." she whispered with nothing but emotion. I gasped. I was shocked. I thought, still surprised.
