The Crow is copyrighted to James O'Barr and Kitchen Sink. Sailor Moon is copyrighted to Naoko Takeuchi and others. This story is a new telling of the downfall of the Moon Kingdom, using the myth of The Crow. Thank you for reading! ******************************************** "People once believed that when a person died, A crow carried their soul to the land of the dead. But sometimes, something so bad happens that a terrible sadness is carried with it; and the soul can't rest. Then sometimes, just sometimes, the crow can bring that soul back to make the wrong things right." ******************************************** THE CROW: SERENITY ACT FOUR ******************************************** Endymion stands in the middle of the former ballroom, a torch flaming in his hand, ready for the pile before him. He now wears his royal armor once again, so Beryl will remember. She will remember how he looked as she stabbed her sword into his heart. She will remember how Serenity killed herself with that same sword. She will know the fear and the pain that he felt that day, that he still feels. Beryl will know death. He brings the torch towards the pile in front of him. All the things he could find of hers are here, save for her ring which he wears. Her books and her perfumes, her white silk gloves and the shawl she wore when she visited him on Earth. All these things sing to him of the memories of her. They tell him of her, how she would sit on her bed and read about the Earth she longed for, or how should would think of him as she perfumed her body. These memories are so sweet and so cruel...never again will he feel these taunts of the past. He brings the fire down and sets the pile on fire. ******************************************** "Hold me," she says and he wraps his arms tighter around her. "I become so scared sometimes," she tells him. "I love you so much and I'm afraid one day I'll lose you." "Serenity, I'll never leave you. We will always be together. Forever and ever." ******************************************** The flames crawl across the floor, consuming tattered tapestries and rugs in its wake, slowly destroying the last of the castle. The crow flies out towards the old garden, where no more flowers grow. He walks towards the stone angel, a sculpture that marks where she rests. This companion is too cold for someone who was so warm and vibrant, the ground too hard for her soft flesh. The tears fall one last time as he wraps his arms around the angel. He whispers a promise to her one last time. He will return. The crow starts off towards Beryl's domain. He follows. ******************************************** Beryl listens to Nephrite whimper out his story as his blood pools around him. "It's Endymion...he's coming for us..." His body trembles with each word. Beryl stands and bangs her staff on the ground. "Let this ghost come," she says in a low voice. "We will be ready for him." ********************************************
