Huh? Oh yea, SM doesn't belong to me.....like I had to tell you. Just because.....part 2 By: Twilight Editor: SailorTwin Serena trudged home from school, her feet dragging behind her. Pulling out the evil test paper from earlier, she whimpered thinking what her mother would say when she saw it. 'Man this is just not FAIR!!' She mentally cried. So involved with her test, she didn't notice that she walked directly into the park. Sighing, she shoved the paper back into her tiny briefcase and made her way to her favorite secluded and isolated bench. She actually liked to call it her thinking bench because this was where she always went when she was feeling down or just needed some time to herself. Plopping down she lay her case next to her and propped her elbows on her knees, clasping her hands together. Lightly she lay her head against her balled hands and closed her sad eyes. Quietly, she listened to all of the sounds taking place around her. >From the birds chirping melodic songs to each other, to children screaming in the distance, she let the sounds engulf her downcast heart and fill her with comfort. The cool breeze wrapped around her body making her hair float, slightly soothing her. For awhile she thought about her school work and how poorly she had done. 'I do try! It's just when it comes to taking a test that I forget......no one ever believes me when I say I studied.' Letting a single solitary tear from her closed lashes fall, she imagined that she could hear it falling as it crashed to the hard pavement beneath. Taking in a steady breath, she sighed, shakily ceasing all thoughts of school. Now she just sat there, with her elbows still on her knees and head still resting against her hands. She almost looked like a statue for she didn't move an inch for a long time. Darien had been walking around the park for a few hours, thinking back to a few days ago. when Serena had cheered him up. He often wondered if she read his journal entry. Usually it would bother him to know that anyone had read something so personal, but with Serena......it didn't seem to matter. He didn't mind in the least bit and to be honest with himself, he would be almost glad if she did read it, though he didn't know why. Shoving his hands into his pockets, he continued to walk along the concrete path, breathing in the fresh air and taking in his surroundings. He loved walking here. It always made him feel serene and the peaceful atmosphere was addictive. The sweet aroma of the roses and other flowers drifted in the breeze around him, making him smile. Turning his head up towards the sky, he closed his eyes and enjoyed the suns warm rays on his face as he kept walking. Then the smell of a faint perfume made its way to his nose. Startled, he stopped walking and turned around, all the while thinking 'I know that perfume.' There, sitting before him looking terribly upset, sat Serena. His always cheerful, beautiful, caring and loving Serena. Standing there for a second longer, he stared at her unable to believe she could actually be sad, it just wasn't her nature to be so. But then again, she was only human. Silently, he walked to where she was sitting and quietly sat beside her. Not once did she look up or acknowledge his presence. Probably because she really didn't know he was there. She was still too deep in thought to notice anything. Darien remained sitting still while admiring her profile. The sun's brilliant rays made her hair shine like soft, shimmering gold urging him to reach out and caress it. To let his fingers run though its silky softness forever would be heavenly. Unable to believe what he was thinking, his eyes grew wide. Lightly he shook his head back and forth thinking it would help disperse such ideas as he turned his head back to her still form. He wanted to talk to her and ask what was wrong, but he didn't know how he should approach it. Suddenly an idea popped into his mind. Looking around casually, he put one hand behind his back making a beautiful, fully bloomed red rose appear. 'Being Tuxedo Mask has it's advantages' He thought smugly as he raised it to her face. For a moment he hesitated, debating whether or not to run its delicate petals across her cheek. The idea was tempting but he didn't think it would be right, so he held it close to her nose and waited. Serena knew she should be getting home soon, because if she knew her mom, and she did, she would be worried sick. 'Just a few minutes more, then I'll go.' Taking in a deep breath, she stopped short when a strong, sweet scent invaded her senses. Snapping her eyes open, she blinked rapidly when she saw an exquisite rose in front of her. Suddenly her mind started to whirl as she realized that someone had to be holding it for it to be there. Quickly turning her head, she gasped when she saw Darien sitting beside her, smiling at her, satisfied by her reaction. Numbly, she sat up, and watched as Darien extended the flower out to her, probing her to take it. At first, she didn't move, her eyes darting back and forth from the flower to him unable to believe he was really there, and of all things giving her a rose. "Come on Serena. It's just a flower." Darien said in an amused tone, smiling happily. Serena eyed Darien curiously, wondering if this was some kind of joke because she really wasn't in the mood for games. But then she finally noticed how good he looked smiling and felt her breath catch. 'Wow...he really should smile more often.' She started to giggle slightly when he started to make the flower dance, tilting it back and forth in his hand while bouncing it slightly. 'Who would have thought? I never knew he could be so.....nice?!' With a steady hand, she plucked the rose from his dancing hand, smiling gratefully. "Arigato Darien. That's really sweet of you...I really needed it." Looking him directly in the eyes she whispered again, "Arigato". Bringing the flower to her nose, she inhaled it's intoxicating scent, savoring it. Smiling at how innocent and happy she now looked, he took that as his cue to leave. Standing and stretching his arms, he started to walk back to his apartment in a better mood than before. Just seeing her happy made him happy. It was early evening now and the sun was slowly making its way closer to the horizon as the moon rose from the other. "Wait, Darien?" Serena called out, standing from the bench. "Why did.. why are you being so nice?" She asked, watching his retreating form get smaller and smaller, hoping he had heard her. Darien turned around long enough to glance back at her and answered her simple question with a simple answer. "Just because..." and he was gone. The end!!! Tada!!! Well, what do you guys think?
