If you are a collector of Romanian stamps you have arrived at the
right page!
Unfortunately, due to time constraints, I no longer actively sell or exchange postage stamps. However I am still very interested to hear from specialised collectors in Romania especially in REVENUE stamps, both for Romania or Bulgaria. Here I am interested in an exchange (and have some specialised material for sale).
Other specialised collectors of Romania can contact me too, and I'll do my best to help them or put them in contact with people. But I was never a stamp dealer, so people asking me for a price list for my stock - I'm very sorry, there isn't any!
If you have a question (OR ESPECIALLY AN ADDITION TO THE BULGARIA & ROMANIA REVENUES CATALOGUE), please do not hesitate to write to me. I hope to hear from you soon!
And here comes an image of the cover of the 2003 book (click on the image to enlarge)
Note: I moved to the beautiful (but windy!) city of Amsterdam, The Netherlands after 2002, but you can still reach me at the address above.
Brief site history
I set up this page over a decade ago. To be more precise, in the summer of 1996 (yep, at the time I was still in high school). It was my very first web page, in fact it was just a few months after I discovered what the web was! There were not many (if any) Romanian philately pages back then (this site itself was just a written announcement on a black background). Now (luckily, I should say), web resources of Romanian stamps are both excellent and plentiful - as the links below show. OK, enough nostalgia...
Links to galleries of Romanian revenue stamps
Since I have no time to do this (and I see no point in duplicating the excellent Romanian philately sites listed below), I will not put up any images of stamps from my collection or otherwise on this page. But I encourage you to visit the page maintained by Mats Blückert of Sweden, one of the most comprehensive illustrated sources of information on Romanian philately (including revenues):
This is an image of the first Moldavian revenue stamp - inscribed "Timbru domnesc" on a document dated from March 1859 from my collection. These were the first Romanian revenues issued in 1856, two years before the first postage stamps, the famous "Bull Heads". The image may be somewhat slow to load but I hope it's worth it.
Some other links on Romania philately (and not only...)
John Barefoot
Major UK dealer and publisher (especially for revenues stamps) and a good friend.
ROMANIA STAMPS
Probably one of the best websites available for Romanian stamps, maintained by Mats Bluckert (Sweden). Includes extensive illustrations and details for most parts of Romanian philately (including good sections for revenues & cinderellas) and is non-commercial.
Romania Seen Throught its Stamps
A website maintained by Victor Manta (Switzerland). Less extensive and technical than the previous one, but provides the interesting stories behind some of the Romanian stamp issues.
Dan Grecu's webpage
Excellent site for checking out references to Romanian philatelic literature (postal history, but not only).
Romanian Philatelic Federation
The official site.
Hungarian Philatelic Federation -The revenue Department
Worth checking is their partial municipal listing, which includes towns in Transylvania.
