William Franklin Banks 1901-1954
William Franklin "Frank" Banks, son of William M.
Banks and Alice V. Rutledge was born in Williamson County Texas
on 29 May 1901. He was the last child and only boy born to Alice.
He had dark hair and his father's eyes.
Losing his mother just before his seventh birthday, he was raised
by his father, and doted on by a host of older sisters.
Besides helping his father, Frank worked out on other area farms. He is well remembered and highly regarded by those who knew him.
Frank was first married for a short time to Pearl Kelly, I believe this marriage was in Williamson County. I have no information on her. If anyone reading this does, please contact me.
Frank second married Myrtle Flossie Kirkpatrick on 1 February 1926 in Lampasas County Texas. Myrtle was born on 10 January 1899 in Burnet County Texas. She was the daughter of Laban A. Kirkpatrick and Martha Cordelia Dennis.
Heir to a portion of the Kirkpatrick land founded in 1882 by her grandfather, John L. Kirkpatrick, an early settler to Burnet County. Myrtle and Frank built a home on this land and raised five children: Hershel Elmer Banks, Dorothy Mae Banks, Delbert H. Banks, William Franklin Banks Jr., and Johnny Howard Banks.
Frank died on 29 March 1954 in Lampasas, and he is buried at the Watson Cemetery, located on highway 183 between Lampasas and Briggs.
Following Franks death, Myrtle married Claud W.
Ballard and moved to Lampasas.
After Mr. Ballard died, she remained in Lampasas, where she
worked in the school lunch room for many years. She died on 25
December 1983, and is buried in the Watson Cemetery.
The homeplace of the children of Frank and Myrtle
Banks now belonging to the fourth generation of Kirkpatrick
descendants is in it's one hundred and fifteenth year.
Myrtle's part known today as "The Flossie B" remains in
the Banks family, and was named to the Texas Land Heritage of
Texas in in 1985.
