Descendants of Jordan and Susannah Wyatt

Susannah Wyatt 1859-1928

Susannah "Sis" Wyatt was the fourth child and first daughter of Jordan and Charlotte Wyatt. She was born on 4 January 1859, probably in Burnet County.
She married James Felder Stephens in Burnet County Texas on 26 January 1874. They had four children:

1) John Riley Stephens, 11 March 1875, died 23 January 1969, Ft Worth,Texas.

2) Charlotte N. Stephens, 1878 in Texas, died 1952 Duncan,Oklahoma, m. Jeff Kuykendall.

3) William Jordan Stephens, 14 November 1880 - died 1958, Ft Worth,Texas.

4) Mary Ann Elizabeth Stephens, 19 February 1884, died 11 November 1978 in Azel, Tarrant County. Married John Hugh Dragoo in Ardmore, Oklahoma, 1902. They had six children.
John Dragoo was born 30January 1881 in Brazos County Texas, died 16 March 1956, burial in Azel, Tarrant County Texas. He was the son of John Hugh Dragoo and Nancy _____.

Census records establishes James and Susannah in Burnet County in 1880 with the two oldest children, and living neighbors to Jordan and Charlotte.

Susannah was deserted by her husband soon after Mary Ann was born in 1884. Left with four small children to raise, I expect life was hard for her. She never re-married.

Susannah and her daughter, Mary Ann are listed in the 1900 census of Tarrant County with her oldest son, John Riley Stephens, still single, but listed head of household. The other two children appaently already married and on their own.

The 1910 census of Tarrant County places her in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, John and Mary Ann Dragoo. The Dragoo's have three children by this time. They are, Bessie, William and Joseph Dragoo.

Susannah died in Azle, Tarrant County Texas on 28 July 1928, and is buried in there.

Mary Charlotte Wyatt 1860-1920

Mary Charlotte Wyatt was born on 5 December 1860 in Burnet County Texas. She was the sixth child and second daughter of Jordan and Charlotte Wyatt.

She married Peter B "Jodie" Bowers in Burnet County on 25 December 1886. They had two children:

1) Earnest L Bowers, 3 November 1887, Burnet County, married Rosa McDaniels. They had four children, two died infants.

2) Anne Josephine Bowers, 7 March 1890 in Burnet County. Died 19 February 1950 in McLennon County Texas. Married John Robert Ray, 3 September 1910 in Burnet County. Anne was his third marriage. They had six children.
John Ray was born c1860 in Limestone County Texas. He was the son of William Ray and Nancy C. Cox, Ray, Wyatt.

Peter Bowers died on 24 June 1912 and is buried in the Bluffton Cemetary in Llano County.

Mary's second marriage was to J.A. Russell in Lampasas County Texas on 31 January 1917.

It is interesting to note that Mr. Russell, a rancher, has the distinction of being Lampasas County's oldest resident. He was one hundred and four years old when he married Mary Charlotte, and out-lived her by four years. He died just a few weeks short of one hundred and ten.

Mary Charlotte died on 25 April 1920 in Lampasas, and according to records on file in Burnet County, she is buried in the Burnet Cemetary.
