Killing Zone

Killing Zone sounded like a good game, but it s one of the worst fighters ever

Publisher:Acclaim
Developer:Naxact Soft
Genre:Fighting

On paper, Killing Zone seems like a great idea. Take some of the most infamous movie and mythology monsters, such as Frankenstein or Medusa, throw in some Mortal Kombat-style gore, and build a 3D fighter around it. Sound cool? It s awful.

First off, the animation is some of the worst ever thrown together. The characters jerk uncontrollably and appear to have been animated at something like 2 frames per second. Secondly, the camera flings itself wildly from side to side, never actually pausing at an effective angle of sight. And while this is supposed to make the game more dynamic, it only serves to compound an already frustrating game.

Even this wouldn t be so bad, if it weren t for the enemy AI. Instead of the characters actually having individual fighting styles, the enemies just get faster and stronger as the game progresses. Even if you re a die-hard fighter fan, stay far away from this one. It isn t worth it.
