Probably the most common form of patrol is by car. The division currently uses Chevrolet Caprice, Ford Crown Victoria and Chevy Blazers for vehicular patrol.
The ATV, or All Terrain Vehicle, is used mostly by the DownTown zone to patrol the river corridor bikeway. Currently we have 4 district wide.
The horse patrol is making a come back here at the MetroParks. The horse comes in very handy during large special events where we might expect numerous people.
We also have a bicycle patrol in use by the division. Bike officers currently go through extensive training to be certified by the Dayton Police Dept. The bike officers can pretty much go everywhere the car, horse and ATV cannot get to.
And lastly, to patrol the major waterways in the district we have several boat officers as well as a patrol vessel. You may see them on Eastwood Lake for the most part and around the new Englewood North Park on Old Springfield Rd in Union. Pictured is our NEW boat purchased this year with grant money from the Ohio Division of Natural Resources.
With all these means of patrol together, we make YOUR MetroParks Clean and Safe for today and tomorrow!
