The Vidya Prasarak Mandal,Thane is
Public
Charitable
Trust bearing
Reg.No.F-5(T) of
01-11-1952
under Public
Trust Act.,1950.
The
Mandal
was established on 01.08.1935,
with
the sole object of
promoting education
within
the society.
It started
its activities
by
taking
over
the charge of Registered
Private
Marathi
School,
established on 07.04.1932
.
Gradually
the activities of the Mandal
were
extended
to the
sphere of
higher education. The
Marathi
school, in the course of its
natural
growth
was
renamed as Dr.Bedekar
Vidya Mandir
(1957).
It is
now a leading institution imparting
Education
to about
3000 from
Kindergarten
kids
school
to Secondary level.Some of the landmarks
in
the history
of the Mandal are

Commerce
College
B.N.Bandodkar
College of
Science
(1969),
T.M.C.
Law College
(1972). Department
of
Management
Studies
(1973),
Sau
Anandibai.K.Joshi English Medium
Highschool
(1976)
and polytechnic(1983).
A team of dedicated persons under the
able
leadership
of
Dr.V.N.Bedekar , strive hard
to
make the Mandal's
educational activities
a
success
. The Campus
of Thane College
is located
on
a beautiful
island in Thane Creek . This
piece
of
land measuring about 13
acres was alloted to
the
Mandal by the
Government
of Maharashtra
free
of cost , in recognition of Mandal's
services
to
the society.Except to the two
schools of the
Vidya
Prasarak Mandal,all the other
Sister
institutions
of the Mandal are located in the
Thane
College
Campus which
is located at a
waking
distance from both
the Thane
Railway
Station
as well as
the Thane S.T. Bus Stop.
As on today Vidya Prasarak Mandal is the
largest
and the
strongest
institution in Thane city.
The
Mandal is working on
some
new projects
such
as digitalisation
of its libraries,
beautification
of the
campus etc., on completion
of
which it
will emerge
more strongly
.
