Holds a Masters Degree in Commerce from the University of Bombay. Fellow of the Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India and a Certified Internal Auditor (Florida, USA).

Started career as Lecturer at the Sydenham College of Commerce & Economics in 1963. In 1964, moved over to industry and stayed for nearly 15 years working for several reputed organisations in the private sector in responsible positions in Finance and General Management.

Returned to full-time academics in 1979 at the Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics and helped to set up the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship Education. After a brief stint as Professor and Student Counsellor at the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, joined the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies as Professor in the Finance area in 1984 and handled various courses in the Finance area. Co-ordinated the MFM and Ph.D. programmes for the Institute and also handled the Admissions and Examinations related activities for the Institute.

Was member of the Central Council of the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (1989 - 1995), became VICE PRESIDENT of the Institute in 1993-94 and PRESIDENT in 1994-95.

The Chairman of the Western India Regional Council of the Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India as well as the President of the Bombay Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors, Florida, USA. Currently, the Chairman of the Bombay Chapter of the Indian Accounting Association. Life Member of the Indian Institute of Public Administration and the Bombay Productivity Council. Member of the Indian Merchants' Chamber and a member of its Commercial Examinations Board and the Capital Markets Subcommittee.

Participated in a large number of national and international seminars and conferences and also presented a large number of papers at these seminars. Conducted a large number of Management Development Programmes for Senior level Executives.

Special interests are the Capital Markets, Turnaround Management and Entrepreneurship Development. Currently, studying the impact of information technology and advanced manufacturing techniques on Management Accounting Practices in Indian industry.
