The Highway System
The worst investment a country can make is in a highway system.
Current population trends have made the possibility of ever catching up
impossible, and the cost of supporting this fraternity of corporations
(Auto, highway construction, and oil) goes far beyond the billions of government
(our) dollars given directly to them in the form of transportation spending
bills. This form of transportation kills 42,000 people a year and injures
millions, and billions of government dollars are spent to clean up the
medical mess. Automobile exhaust is destroying the earth upon which we
live, the cost of which will be, and not so far from now, the ultimate
price.
