Colonel Joel Stone, Leeds Militia

Joel Stone was born in Connecticut. During the American Revolution he served with the Loyalist forces. Joel Stone moved to Canada in 1786, after he lost everything in his home state. In the War of 1812 he was a Colonel of the 2nd Leeds Militia. In September of 1812 the Americans raided Gananoque, Stone and two companies of the Leeds miltia were unable to stop the U.S. force.
