The West Bank Art Guild, located on the west bank of the Mississippi
river in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, enjoys a
full membership of dedicated and talented artists. It's
reputation is highly respected in the Art Community of
this area, and a number of award winning artists are on
it's roster.
"The West Bank Art Guild seeks to promote knowledge of and
participation in the visual arts through exibitions, teaching
programs, workshops and scholorships. The Guild is
dedicated to providing facilities for the exibition of art
executed by and for the encouragement of artists of all
proficiency levels, and for the education of the public. The
Guild is non-sectarian, non-partisan and non-profit."
Please check our
Guild Activitiespage for more history and information on the guild, and upcoming shows and events.
Our meetings are normally held at 7:00 P.M. on the fourth
Thursday of the month at the Westwego
Arts Center, 401 Sala Avenue, Westwego, La. 70094.
Guild business is dispensed with as quickly as possible in order to consume the delicious snacks and beverages provided by the Guild, and to accomodate a painting related demonstration by guest artists. Paintings are brought in by member artists, and a vote is taken by the membership on the painting which most appeals to them. A vote tally then selects the artist whose painting garnered the most votes as the Artist of the Month. See our Artist of the Month page , or the Painting of the Month, and please
Browse the Gallery of past winners
of Artist of the Month and their Paintings. All paintings receive points based on the number of votes a painting earned in monthly competition. At the end of the year, the artist whose paintings earned the most points in competition during that year is picked as the
Artist of the Year.
We welcome guests and prospective new members to our meetings, so y'all come.
The WAC is open each Thursday, Friday, and Saturday between the hours
of 11 AM and 4 PM. Come visit with us, browse the gallery, and buy a painting!!
Next meeting August 28th.
