The Day Nogard Got Sick
By Chelsey Card
Grade Two.

One day I was walking into the playground at school and I heard a voice.  It sounded like someone was sick.  So I went inside and saw Nogard coughing and sneezing. I went running to Mrs. Denbigh, Mrs. Abley and Mrs. Eagles.
I got every teacher in the whole school. They got Nogard medicine. They thought it was really good medicine. They put it in Nogard's mouth. Nogard swallowed it and then he wanted to go to sleep; so he fell asleep. Then the teachers tried to wake him up. They kept on trying and then he finally woke up. They asked him if the medicine worked. Nogard said, "I don't think so." All the teachers tried every medicine and finally the last one worked.

Nogard and the Funny House
By Adam Daquantan
Grade Three

One night Nogard was protecting the school when a robber broke in through a window to steal the library books. Nogard saw him and started chasing the robber around the library. The robber took a book and tried to hit Nogard over the head, but Nogard pushed the robber out the door.

Then Nogard looked down and saw a piece of paper that the robber had dropped. It was a treasure map. Nogard wanted to go find the treasure, but he had to protect the school, so he made a Nogard out of paper and cardboard. (The next night the computers were stolen.) Nogard flew to the island on the map. It was called Funny House Island.
He landed in front of a big house with a big flashing light over top of it saying Funny House. The front door was locked, so he tried the back door, but that door was locked too. Nogard tried to find a way in on the roof. After looking for a way in for ten minutes, Nogard was about to give up until he fall through the roof, Nogard found himself in a big library. A book shot out of a shelf and hit him in the head. The cover said, "Don't open this book." Nogard opened the book and read the first page. The first page said, "Don't turn the page." Nogard turned the page and read it. It said, "Don't turn the page," and it kept saying that until he was at the end of the book. The last page said, "Push in the red book." Nogard pushed in the red book and the wall spun around.
On the other side of the wall Nogard found himself standing in front of a treasure chest. He opened the treasure chest, but found no treasure! All he found was a note saying: To Nogard; The school has already found this treasure. We had another copy of the map that the robber stole from our school librarian. We needed the treasure to pay for the school's computers. You took a wrong turn in Victoria and took the long path to this island. That's how we got here first.

From the School, Nogard flew back to Westmount Elementary School and still helps to guard the school from robbers.

Nogard and the Magic Shoes
By Andrew Dalgleish,
 Grade Two.

One day Nogard bought some shoes.  The shoe manager said they are magic.  Nogard didn't believe the shoe manager.  And as soon as he put on the shoes, the shoes started dancing like magic.

Nogard tried to stop them by singing rotten songs, calling them bad names and snipping off their laces.  He kept on trying and finally he had one more idea.  He checked in his pocket for scissors.  He found scissors.

Do you know what he did?  He cut off the ends of the shoes.  A minute after they stopped dancing and Nogard was glad.

A long time ago, when man was new and dragons already old, dragons roamed the earth and ruled. There was a small, lonely dragon named Nogard. He had an older brother named Ziggy, the magic dragon. Ziggy was a giant of a dragon, while Nogard was a friendly little dragon. Ziggy was a bully, He wouldn't stop calling people names and
demolishing their homes and villages. While Ziggy did his little magic tricks, Nogard would sing with a wonderful deep voice. He amused royalty and charmed princesses around the world. One day Ziggy kidnapped the Princess of Camelot and almost had a barbecued princess for lunch, but Nogard stopped Ziggy before it was too late. That is how Nogard saved the day.

Nogard's Birthday
By Amanda Tomlinson
Grade Four.

One day Nogard, the big purple dragon, was so excited but no one knew why. They thought Nogard was sick so they called the doctor. The doctor rushed over to Westmount Elementary School. She checked Nogard, but nothing was wrong, so she left. But all of a sudden Nogard felt sad because no one had remembered his birthday. The rest of the day he remained sad. The next day everyone was whispering, so Nogard thought everyone was making fun of him, so he left the school to go think somewhere else.

Nogard walked and walked. Later on, at the school, they were all busy making a surprise birthday party. Some people were making cakes, others were decorating the school, and in no time the school was decorated.

Meanwhile, Nogard was ready to come back to the school and when he walked into the school everyone yelled SURPRISE! Nogard felt like crying because he was so happy, After the party was over, the teachers had to clean the mess up, but so did the kids. After that Nogard was a happy purple dragon.

A Dragon Named Nogard
By Kyle Hayes
Grade Three

On the first day of kindergarten I met my teacher. Her name was Mrs. Hammarbotham. It was a kindergarten and grade 1 class. On the school tour she told us where the washrooms are.  Then she showed us the library and the librarian that reads us stories every Wednesday. A11 the decorations were poems, butterflies and this GREAT BIG DRAGON.

The librarian said his name is Nogard. His name is dragon backwards because he is a dragon. This little girl, whose name is Betsy barker, was scared of Nogard.
At recess,  I played with my two best friends named Kris and Michael. We played frozen tag and then touch football with a soccer ball. At 10:00 the bell rang and we had to go inside the school to learn some lessons. Mrs. Hammerbotham told as about Nogard, the big, purple dragon in the library.   She told us to use our imagination and make him come to life. My image was of Nogard flying around the library scaring all the bad kids away from the school. I also imagined that he was talking to all the little kids and helping them. Later we shared our imagination with the other part of the class.
At supper, my parents asked me "How did your day go?" I said,  "It went fine" I also said,  "the library has a big huge dragon that protects us and all the objects that are in the big, huge, immense, school; (I was running out of breath).

The next day I went back to school and saw Nogard'. He looked different than before. He was in a different shape, his tail was over his big head, his feet were crossed too, his head was high in the air, and his wings were high in the air too; as if he was going to fly like a big huge bird.

The next day I told the librarian that Nogard was the best dragon in the whole, wide world.
