Indian Myth "In long-ago times, spotted cat had a long tail. In my country, among my people, there is a legend of the Old Man of the shadows. He is a trickster who can help or hurt. Well, the Old Man had changed himself into a hollow tree, and spotted cat hid inside. But Old Man played a trick. He made a knthole behind, and cat's tail hung out. A hunter passed by and saw the fine fur of the tail. He chopped it off to decorate his bow case. There has been fur on bow cases every since and that is now spotted cat lost is tail." |
