11-5-2004 Let the Unification begin

In his concession speech, a scant 48 hours ago, John F. Kerry called for his party to unify with the Republicans and to stand together to win the war on terror. Now while one could tell from the muted response and partial applause of his supporters that they were somewhat confused by these two statements, it was the right thing to do. The problem. The left will never let it happen, nor will the media and elites that have taken over the grand old Democratic Party.

Here we are two days after the concession speech and the news media is jammed with great feelings of unity. Lets examine some of them:

***Hunter S. Thompson, Democratic leader from Colorado.
"I feel like somebody's died," Thompson lamented as the sun was preparing to rise early Wednesday morning. "I'm just not sure who it was."

He deemed the election "another failure of the youth vote." "Yeah, we rocked the vote all right. Those little bastards betrayed us again." "I've got the worst possible news. Colorado has gone to hell like all the other states," Thompson said into the speakerphone. "They must have all voted the same way they prayed."***

Yep, it's the youth of America who are at fault, the under 24 crowd that P Diddy was trying to get to show up at the polls with his song "Vote or Die." Guess what, the youth of America did show up, Kerry got about 65% of their vote, so what? They were far outdone by the X-generation who voted largely for Bush-those kids that grew up during the Clinton administration, the 24-30 demographic that want to see a return to easier days, one working parent, safe schools, abstinence over abortion. This was the generation that Clinton thought he owned, but he was very wrong.

***The unteachable ignorance of the red states.
By Jane Smiley
The election results reflect the decision of the right wing to cultivate and exploit ignorance in the citizenry. I suppose the good news is that 55 million Americans have evaded the ignorance-inducing machine. But 58 million have not. (Well, almost 58 million—my relatives are not ignorant, they are just greedy and full of classic Republican feelings of superiority.)

Here is how ignorance works: First, they put the fear of God into you—if you don't believe in the literal word of the Bible, you will burn in hell.

Next, they tell you that you are the best of a bad lot (humans, that is) and that as bad as you are, if you stick with them, you are among the chosen.

Third, and most important, when life grows difficult or fearsome, they (politicians, preachers, pundits) encourage you to cling to your ignorance with even more fervor.

The reason the Democrats have lost five of the last seven presidential elections is simple: A generation ago, the big capitalists, who have no morals, as we know, decided to make use of the religious right in their class war against the middle class and against the regulations that were protecting those whom they considered to be their rightful prey—workers and consumers. The architects of this strategy knew perfectly well that they were exploiting, among other unsavory qualities, a long American habit of virulent racism, but they did it anyway, and we see the outcome now—Cheney is the capitalist arm and Bush is the religious arm. They know no boundaries or rules. They are predatory and resentful, amoral, avaricious, and arrogant. Lots of Americans like and admire them because lots of Americans, even those who don't share those same qualities, don't know which end is up. Can the Democrats appeal to such voters? Do they want to? The Republicans have sold their souls for power. Must everyone?

Progressives have only one course of action now: React quickly to every outrage—red state types love to cheat and intimidate, so we have to assume the worst and call them on it every time.

And in addition, we have to remember that threats to democracy from the right always collapse. Whatever their short-term appeal, they are borne of hubris and hatred, and will destroy their purveyors in the end.***

Wow, where do we start with this one. Start with the fact that the religious right ARE the middle class. The elite on the left somehow try to separate the religious from the middle class. 80% of this country are Christians. 80% of this country are middle class. I know people that make over $10 million dollars a year and I know people who don't have a pot to pee in, and both are very religious. Both give all they can, both volunteer time and money and energy and effort. So what's the point? Why would big capitalists want to alienate 80% of their customers or even 52% of Americans (the number that voted for Bush) for that matter. And it was big capitalism that donated big bucks to Kerry, not Bush. Kerry, by far, got the lion's share of corporate money, including $26 million from George Sorros, and millions from trial lawyers and Hollywood elites as well as millions more from the unions. The largest portion of Bush's contributions came from people that donated $2000 or LESS-individuals. But why trifle with facts?

Racism? Why is it that the folks on the left always cry racism? It was their party that opposed the Civil Rights Amendment. It was Al Gore's father that put forth an amendment to the Civil Rights Amendment that wanted to ALLOW school segregation. It was the overwhelming percentage of Republicans that supported and passed Civil Rights. It was a Liberal judge that threw out a quarter of a million military votes in 2000, 30% of which were minority votes. But she isn't referring to Republican racism here, she is calling America racist. Pure hatred.

Meanwhile she accuses the red states of cheating when it was the Democratic Party that was trading votes for cocaine in Ohio, votes for money, votes for food and that now has multiple law suits against them nationwide. It was the Democratic Party that slashed the tires on the volunteer vehicles parked in front of Republican headquarters in Wisconsin-vehicles that were to be used to bring elderly and shut-ins to vote. And they say Republicans are suppressing voters? I have not yet read one story about Republicans doing this-if they did I would be the first to shout about it from the mountain.

There has never in our history been a collapse of a Conservative democratic government. There have been many collapses of socialist governments and Liberal countries such as France, Germany, and even Canada are suffering economically from overwhelming taxation and government programs that they can't pay for including socialized health care. For crying out loud, 10,000 people die in France last summer from heat! So much for Socialism.

***Bush Would Be Perfect Kids' Villain - Author Pullman
LONDON (Reuters) - For children's fantasy writer Philip Pullman, George W. Bush would make a perfect villain in his epic sagas of good and evil.

"He would fit right in," said the British author of the trilogy "His Dark Materials" which now looks set to follow in the cinematic footsteps of Harry Potter and The Lord of The Rings as the next blockbuster franchise.

"Bush has this baying certainty and has imposed this fervent zealotry," said Pullman whose books have been condemned by church groups for attacking organized religion.

"The Christian right in America is the mirror image of the Islamic fundamentalists," he added.***
Yes more of that diversity sensitive rhetoric from the left. They are the party of acceptance. Everyone is equal, except of course Conservatives. I really don't see too many young Americans running around blowing up mosques. But I of course I am one of those ignorant Republicans.

***'Don't Blame Gays,' Activist Says

(CNSNews.com) - The head of the National Gay and Lesbian Task force issued a statement Thursday, saying it's not fair or accurate to blame the homosexual agenda for the Democrats' defeat at the polls.

"Months ago, we all knew that if George Bush was re-elected, 'gay marriage' would be blamed. A scapegoat is required. Offer up the gays," Matt Foreman said.

"It's sickening and fascinating that when one in five voters said 'moral values' was the most important issue for them, pundits immediately equated that with gay marriage alone. But to pin all of this on 'the gays' is wrong. Don't buy it," Foreman's statement concluded.***

So how is it that these same all-accepting, "We are the world," Liberals can bash their own constituents? About 90% of the gay population are Liberal, and now their own party is blaming them for losing the election. Again, who is segregating people "gay/lesbian", "blacks", "little bastards", "ignorant right"-these words are coming from the left.

***Liberal Columnist Doesn't Get Bush Victory

(CNSNews.com) - "Is Ohio stupid?" asked Boston Globe columnist Brian McGrory on Friday. He says he doesn't get why anyone would vote for President Bush -- and he concludes that Ohio is "just different.".***

Four years ago it was Florida that was different. Let's lay odds. 2-1 that in four years it will be Iowa. ***French President Too Busy to Meet With Iraq's Interim Leader

(CNSNews.com) - French President Jacques Chirac, who opposes the U.S.-led war in Iraq, left an EU summit meeting in Brussels Friday just as Iraq's interim Prime Minister Ayad Allawi -- the guest of honor -- was arriving. Chirac pleaded "prior engagements," but the move is seen as a snub, the BBC reported. Allawi is seeking broader European participation in efforts to bring democracy to his country, and France has refused to take part.***

Remember, this was the same guy that two days ago said he wanted to improve Franco-American relations. "F" him. His own country has been being blown up for years by terrorists while he and his people did nothing about it. France is a haven for fundamentalists. I am shocked that one of the most Liberal leaders in the world would be that insensitive.

By the way the vote total delta looks as if it will go over the 4 million mark and Bush is now up to 52%. More ignorant Republicans.

Well, the stories will continue. Just today we have Nancy Pelosi D-Cal already bashing "religion, morals, and family." And I will bet you a dollar that next week we will hear stories that are bashing Kerry himself. I've already seen one bashing his wife. It will happen.

Hey John. So much for your unification theory.

Keep the faith.
