2-16-2004 Oh, well...

Mark,

Thanks again for allowing me to beg for funds on your site. And congratulations on your office being named number 1 of the number 1’s. Hey, instead of hitting Copper Dude with an éclair, why not use a soft pretzel-then he could at least charge you with as-salt. Get it. Haaa, haaa, hooo, hoooooo. Oh, I crack myself up.

My dad and I took a ride over to The Train Shop this weekend with my 4-year-old son in tow. It was his first visit and definitely not his last. I’m eying up a nice HO train-The Union Pacific, for him to add to his slot car layout. My dad used some of the gift certificate I got him for Christmas to pick up a great trestle set for one of his Lionel layouts. I’m trying to locate a nice HO Grandstand model for my son’s layout. It would look cool right next to the lap counter on his set.

Hey folks, did you know that according to Walter “ain’t got a vote” Griffith, our new mayor is magic. Get this, our new mayor takes office and within’ three weeks, he creates $20 million in debt. Wow! Tom, how did you do it? Now that is even better than Copperfield could do.

It’s time for another shameless plug, and this one is good news as well. MEPACON gaming convention is coming to NE Pa (Scranton) for the first time ever. I know because I will be there running some tournaments and peddling my wares. Check it out at www.mepacon.com. MEPACON I hope to see you there.

Let’s start here: “In the town of Kalar, about a hundred miles northeast of Baghdad, Kurdish villagers recently reported suspicious activity to the pesh merga. That Kurdish militia has for years been waging a bloody battle with Ansar al-Islam, the terrorist group affiliated with Al Qaeda in Afghanistan and supported by Saddam Hussein in Iraq. It captured a courier carrying a message that demolishes the repeated claim of Bush critics that there was never a "clear link" between Saddam and Osama bin Laden.

The terrorist courier with a CD-ROM containing a 17-page document and other messages was Hassan Ghul, who confessed he was taking to Al Qaeda the Ansar document setting forth a strategy to start an Iraqi civil war, along with a plea for reinforcements. The Kurds turned him over to Americans for further interrogation, which is proving fruitful.”

That was from William Safire and the story was basically buried on page 17 of the Post and ignored by the rest of the mainstream media. It’s just one of many stories that are out there, many of which I have written about and sent to Kevin Lynn, who, of course, ignores them. Oh, well. How about this:

“George Bush and I were lieutenants and pilots in the 111th Fighter Interceptor Squadron (FIS), Texas Air National Guard (ANG) from 1970 to 1971. We had the same flight and squadron commanders (Maj. William Harris and Lt. Col. Jerry Killian, both now deceased). While we were not part of the same social circle outside the base, we were in the same fraternity of fighter pilots, and proudly wore the same squadron patch.

It is quite frustrating to hear the daily cacophony from the left and Sen. John Kerry, Massachusetts Democrat, et al., about Lt. Bush escaping his military responsibilities by hiding in the Texas ANG. In the Air Guard during the Vietnam War, you were always subject to call-up, as many Air National Guardsmen are finding out today. If the 111th FIS and Lt. Bush did not go to Vietnam, blame President Johnson and Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara, not lowly Lt. Bush. They deliberately avoided use of the Guard and Reserves for domestic political calculations, knowing that a draftee only stirred up the concerns of one family, while a call-up got a whole community's attention.”

My favorite quote about all this was from some beat reporter in DC upon hearing that Bush’s dental records show he received dental treatment during his guard service, “Well, that only proves that his teeth were there.” Oh, well. Can anyone tell me just what have any of the Democratic candidates has offered other than Bush bashing? No, I mean besides promises to end the tax cuts. No, I mean besides increasing taxes (as three of them have promised). They have all said they would handle Iraq differently, but not one has said how.

And folks, stay out of the Kerry and the Intern issue. The liberals will stoke that fire enough. The media is now calling the release of this information a Republican play-not so. One only needs examine Clark’s comments the week before and stories are being dredged up from 4 years ago by certain folks in the media. Sure, it’s been all over talk radio, but that was the second wave after Drudge, and the big three still haven’t lifted a finger on it, so let it go. The truth will come out. Bubba will make sure of it.

More on the worst President in history: “Liberals claim President Bush shouldn't have started this war. They complain about his prosecution of it. One liberal recently claimed Bush was the worst president in U.S. history. Let's clear up one point: We didn't start the war on terror. Try to remember, it was started by terrorists BEFORE 9/11. Let's look at the "worst" president and mismanagement claims:

FDR led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us: Japan did. From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost, an average of 112,500 per year.

Truman finished that war and started one in Korea. North Korea never attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of 18,333 per year.

John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us. Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost, an average of 5,800 per year.

Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent. Bosnia never attacked us. He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.

In the two years since terrorists attacked us, President Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Lybia, Iran and North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people. We lost 600 soldiers. Bush did all this abroad while not allowing another terrorist attack at home.

Worst president in history? Come on!” Oh, well.

Copper Dude, an Amy shot for you and me.

Keep the Faith.
