2-17-2004 I'm f**ked-up?

The Washington and political press corps are biased. There's a universal sense that liberal political positions on social issues like gun control, homosexuality, abortion and religion are the norm. That there's a belief that government is a mechanism to solve the nation's problems. That more taxes on corporations and the wealthy are good, and the press does not accept President Bush's justifications for the Iraqi war.--Mark Halpern, ABC News Political Director

I done good, or something. I did not happen to see a single movie on this list. Blockbuster deserves most of the credit, since I told the manager up there to f**king eat my membership card and I have never returned. Once on my boycott list, that business is on it for life. The Worst 25 Flicks of 2003

This is interesting. The yearly salaries of the New York Mercenaries probable opening day starting line-up:

Mussina (P) 14.75
Posada (C) 10.2
Giambi (1B) 17.4
Cairo (2B) .9
Rodriguez (3B) 16.0
Jeter (SS) 18.9
Matsui (LF) 7.0
Lofton (CF) 3.1
Sheffield (RF) 13.0

The Yankees are currently shopping for a second baseman, so expect to see an increase to Cairo's $900,000 salary. What do they do if they don't win the big dance this year? For Pete's sake, they added Kenny Lofton, Gary Sheffield, and A-Rod. Yikes! But...watch for the starting pitching to deteriorate as the season progresses.

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Was this comment on the forum page directed at moi? Fuqez-vous, non?

You seem to think that the hose dudes have no right to express there concerns over the tainted new adminstration.

I have provided an outlet for many a hose hauler to express their opinion for two years now. But when I receive e-mails where one is calling others whiners, or cry babies-I'm not posting them here. Posting name-calling assaults while folks are nervous about their positions is totally counter-productive. I do find the "tainted new administration" quip to be somewhat interesting. Care to expand on that?

And then there was this:

Wasn't it not to long ago when you were doing alot of bashing of the last adminstration ? Sometimes you printed half truths and misguided facts that you thought were ok to print.

What is your point? Did I bash the last administration? Of course I did. Was I correct to? F**king A right, I was! Did I really print half-truths and misguided facts here? Oh my God, I'm about to insert a gun into my mouth. Not! I consider that nothing more than tit-for-tat volleys with that inept administration. How often did our past mayor run to the press and offer little more than half-truths for publication? He claimed that he wouldn't "get in the sewer with the skunks," (?) but if we were ever going to escape his tyranny, we were forced to fight him where he lived. Namely, in the gutter.

If I'm reading this right, where once I was praised for standing up to the VLP, while so many city employees could not, now I'm being accused of being inaccurate on occasion during that lengthy battle for Wilkes-Barre's future? Wow! How quickly the cheers turn into jeers.

And this line had me scratching my head to the point of bleeding:

So you can check it out if you want or maybe you have a job promised ????

Dammit! You got me! You're very shrewd. That's the plan. Lay-off or demote everyone, and then hire Mark as the new part-time City Disc Jockey at $85,000 a year. In the future, think before you type.

Now do we understand why I refused to post a few rather ugly e-mails? Because the "witchhunt," or whatever anyone chooses to call it is causing an un-checked feeding frenzy of sorts. Thanks to the forum, we now know that we have a "tainted administration" and the internet goof is inaccurate, bucking for a job, anti-hose dude, and he won't admit that life without a City Calendar is simply intolerable.

The hose dudes have every right to express their concerns. But let's be serious. Where once they yearned for Jay's removal, now they point to his demotion as proof of some witchhunt? That is insane. And Tony George was supposedly fired? Do a quick fact check on that one. Some claimed that Jim Hayward faked his disability claim when he was a fireman, but now he's just another innocent victim burned at the stake. Shannon Hayward was hired at great expense only because our former mayor couldn't spell "pot hole" correctly, but now her dismissal is offered as further proof of sinister designs on the part of the new mayor. Gerry McGroarty? Has anyone taken a close look at the dreadful conditions of our major parks? Are you people f**king kidding me? The former mayor's first official act as mayor was to hire his brother and many have called that move blatant nepotism. Now, we're to be led to believe that his removal is yet another atrocity perpetrated by the new regime? You're gonna have to do better than that. Jerry Ryan? I've never heard a good word spoken about his performance as a city employee, but he's also being elevated to "Victims of Leighton" status.

The former city employees that everybody bitched about the most for years are now being offered as proof positive that Tom Leighton is off on a political vendetta. Am I supposed to be swayed by such completely anemic presentations?

As I previously stated, I don't know why the fire department is being reorganized. I will admit that I'm not very happy to see so much rancor emanating from that department. The last that I had heard, the hose dudes finally had the chief they wanted, the mayor they wanted, and a much more content future directly ahead of them. The honeymoon has apparently ended.

The DPW employees are quietly going about their business. The copper dudes are extremely reluctant to enter the political fray. The City Hall employees are not griping directly to newspaper reporters. And then there's the fire department. What am I to think when their allies are suddenly re-classified as quasi-enemies, and the folks they perceived to be longtime enemies are elevated to ally status as long as it's beneficial to their cause? I'm f**ked-up?

Rutro! The "Dare to Care" folks are still on the prowl. Good. Hold 'em all accountable.

From the e-mail inbox:

*******Your tenants are moving, Mr. Freidman. Did you know or are we the first to tell you? We realize that you can't possibly see the state of your rentals everyday since you live in Jamesburg, NJ so let "Dare to Care" keep you more up-to-date.

Take a look at the garbage on the rear porch of 70 Wyoming Street and then look further in the picture to see the garbage that has been sitting for too long at 72 and 76 Wyoming Street (at least their garbage is in city bags, but what's the problem with getting it to the curb?).

As recently as November we sent you pictures and a letter depicting the accumulation of garbage. Now in February we must again do the same. You will have 10 days to make your tenants clean up before we forward our pictures on to the City for further action.

Oh, by the way, the residents of 70 Wyoming are moving to Myers Court. Good riddance and don't forget to take your shopping carts with you.

Red States Are the Real America, 2000 Election Facts Show

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law, St. Paul, Minn., points out some interesting facts concerning the most recent presidential election:

Population of counties won by:
Gore=127 million
Bush=143 million

Square miles of land won by:
Gore=580,000
Bush=22,427,000

States won by:
Gore=19
Bush=29

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:
Gore=13.2
Bush=2.1

Make of that what you will, but I like the murder rate data. The liberal meccas aren't safe, while the heartland is relatively safe. Yet, the meccas are where the all-knowing folks spring from.

DORKONG? Is that why we have a forum page available to anyone that wants to offer their opinions? To make fun of me? Actually, I like it. DORKONG. Ya' done good for a one-eyed former Noxen resident that was run out of town for refusing to sleep with both of your sisters.

I gotta cool it with the Noxen nonsense. If anyone from Noxen ever wanders across this now anathema web site, I'm gonna find myself bent over a log. Ah! I just did it again. "You sure got a pretty mouf." Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

SNAKE! What's up with this?

Wilkes-Barre is a cesspool. Rumor has it that the Wyoming Valley Sanitary Authority is considering using Public Square as a treatment facility.

That's freakin' funny, especially after I corrected your numerous spelling mistakes and made it somewhat cogent. Bite me! Ya' wanna know what? You sound exactly like Kevin Lynn.

I should go somewhat easy on him. He did provide us with the scoop that the Chamber of Commerce is the outfit that is purchasing the former Blum Brothers building for $150,000. Their thinking is that it would be better to own and maintain the building, rather than watching it deteriorate further. I can follow that logic and I'm all for it.

Yeah! Let's freakin' do it. Bad boys. Bad boys. Watcha gonna do? Watcha gonna do when they come for you?

I just got off of the cell phone and I am going on a police ride-along right here in good ole Wilkes-Barre. Outstanding! It's easy to stand across the street and report on the brave actions of a few hose dudes, but it's next to impossible to do the same when the copper dudes ply their skills. Shots fired? We run the other way. A hostage standoff? The area is cordoned off. You could follow a cruiser for a while, but sooner or later, they'd notice you tailing them and they'd be quick to check your fake I.D.

Quite a few days ago, I asked our new mayor if a police ride-along was a possibility, and surprising, he told me he wasn't sure. I found that to be somewhat perplexing in a city where the former mayor ruled over us with an iron fist for eight long years. I was reduced to assuming that he would leave that decision to his Chief of Police, and if we remember correctly, he promised to allow his underlings to run their departments.

After probing our mayor about the possibility of doing a ride-along, I called our copper dude headquarters at 826-8106 and asked for the chief. Unfortunately, that was the very same morning that a lady was found shot to sh*t in her apartment. I was transferred to some lady and told that he was not available. I'm assuming that he was busy and rightfully so.

When I explained to her why I was calling, she transferred me again. I was beginning to think that the hoped-for ride-along was a dead issue. Next, I spoke to a Captain who remembers me from the old days on the midnight shift. I'm not gonna claim that we chewed some of the same dirt, but I certainly held my own when the bars closed. If drunk and rowdy was your game, Franklin's on Kidder Street was not the best place to visit when the plug was finally pulled on your Joker Poker machine. And if things got out of hand, as they so often did, she was there quite often to provide handcuffs to anyone needing them. Ah, the good old days.

Anyway, I told her of my wishes and she said she'd run 'em by the chief. My sole purpose for wanting to do a ride-along in Wilkes-Barre is to expose the average folks to what our cops face on an average 8-hour shift. Rather than reading the moronic dribble on the pages of SAYSO, or reading the pages of DonutJoke.com, why not seriously push the envelope and gain an insight into the wonderful world of dealing with the worst that humanity has to offer? I do want to go there and as it turns out, after I sign a few release forms, I'll be well on my way.

I requested that I be allowed to ride-along on a 7 pm-3 am shift on a Saturday night, preferably, when there's a full moon. That's what you'd call getting the most BANG! for your ride-along buck.

Stay tuned, kiddies. We're going for a ride.
