3-15-2004 Kerrymandering

It's not your business.--John Kerry responding to Cedric Brown of Bethlehem, Pa., after Brown demanded to know the names of foreign leaders Kerry claims want him to defeat Dubya

Wow! Joe Q. Public has no right to know who Kerry met with? A member of the elite ruling class has spoken. Just to appear somewhat fair, Brown's question did insinuate that Kerry was conspiring with foreign leaders to overthrow Bush, but Kerry's response does provide an insight as to what he's all about. "It's not your business." Scary.

Kerry ended his exchange with this no good republican by shouting him down with, "Are you a Republican? Are you a Republican? Are you a Republican? Did you vote for George Bush? Did you vote for George Bush?" He won't tell anyone who these make-believe leaders are that he supposedly met with, and especially not some scumbag Joe Six-pack Republican.

And don't bother trying to find a blow-by-blow news account of Kerry's having berated a citizen. None seems to exist. Media bias, anyone? It couldn't be, could it? Kerry came off as a Howard Dean wannabe sans the primal screams and that's not news? Since this went down near Allentown, I visited the Allentown Morning Call web site to see how the locals had reported this exchange.

At one point, he dealt gracefully with one persistent Republican heckler who accused Kerry of conspiring with foreign leaders to ''overthrow'' the Bush presidency. Kerry responded while holding off an audience that tried to shout down the critic, who identified himself as local businessman Cedric Brown.

The only thing graceful about Kerry is the way he back-pedals with apparent ease from his previously stated positions on nearly every issue. Expect the Kerrymandering to continue as his record gets even closer scrutiny. November is still a long way off.

White House spokesman, Scott McClellan, had this to say about Kerry's delusions of grandure:

Either he is straightforward and states who they are, or the only conclusion one can draw is that he is making it up to attack the president

And then there's this from Colin Powell:

"...if he feels it is that important an assertion to make, he ought to list some names. If he can't list names, then perhaps he should find something else to talk about.

The word is still mum on 'Foreigners for Kerry.'

And Kerry has challenged Dubya to a series of monthly debates. That's f**king retarded. No one excepting Ethel and myself pay too much attention to presidential politics until an election is about 100 hours away. Who would even remember a debate that was staged six, or seven months ago anyway? He knew Bush would decline. That's the only reason he even brought it up. Here's some babbling from the Botox Defender. Or is it pretender?

Surely, if the attack ads can start now, at least we can agree to start a real discussion about America's future. America shouldn't have to put up with eight months of sniping. We need to get off that detour and back into the true path of democracy.

"...eight months of sniping." This from the candidate calling his opponents "crooks" and "liars."

This is classic. From Steve Schmidt, a spokesman for the Bush campaign:

After calling Republicans crooks and liars, running 17 negative ads over 15,000 times and spending $6.3 million attacking the president, John Kerry is calling for a civil debate on the issues. John Kerry should finish the debate with himself.

I hear that. Which is it today, Senator Waffler? Flip? Or flop? Does Heinz manufacture pancake syrup?

Well, the Spaniards went and pussed-out. One terrorist attack on their soil from Bin Laden's loonies and Spain surrenders. Who was howling the loudest about building coalitions with Europeans that really don't have the stomach for war? Wasn't it their like-minded brethren in the Democratic party?

Spain has sent the terrorists of the world a very simple message. We'll behave. We'll be good. You can kill all of the innocent people that your darkened hearts desire. But leave us alone. Bomb the French. Yeah! That's the ticket. Bomb the French.

The military intervention was a political error for the international order, for the search for cooperation, for the defense of the United States.

It divided more than it united, there were no reasons for it, time has shown that the arguments for it lacked credibility and the occupation has been managed badly.--Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, Spain's newly elected Socialist leader

Another foreigner telling us how we should defend our own country. Whatever. F**k him and the bull he rode in on. He claims he's pulling Spain's 1,300 troops out of Iraq minus some sort of U.N. control. To date, Spain has lost one soldier in Iraq. It seems they'd be safer if they were left where they are now.

So much for building coalitions with week-kneed Europeans. They seem to be reverting back to their more traditional strategy for dealing with ruthless killers. Namely, appeasement.

I read your glowing assessment of the parade and I must point out something you are not aware of. As a bike fan you seem to have no understanding of the awful parking situation we faced yesterday. If Leighton wants us to attend more special events he needs to do something about parking.*******

Plllllllease! Come on, man. Like what? Build three more parking garages after his kids perfect their counterfeiting skills? What would we have him do? The 4th of July festivities attract over ten thousand people and we survive that mostly intact. Yesterday's crowd was 5,000 by one estimate. Did we expect the parking garages to be mostly empty yesterday? Cripes Almighty! When the mall is busy, after we park our cars, don't we usually end up having to walk in the neighborhood of 40-50 yards to reach the entrance? Is the parking situation in our downtown really any worse than that? I think not.

Hey! Next time, grab the bike and hook up with me. I parked right on the sidewalk.

George Harrison will be posthumously inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame tonight. How is it even possible that any of the Beatles weren't already inducted a long, long time ago? Were we waiting for George to do something worthy of the hall? Were the Archies inducted before George was? The 1910 Fruitgum Company? The Blues Magoos?

*******Mark,
Take a look at this! I took this picture on Friday, March 12th but this garbage has been at the curb in front of 90 Beaumont Street since about Sunday, March 7 - 6 days of this disgusting mess. This isn't the first time that opened bags of garbage are left in this area. It happens on a weekly basis. What kind of people live like this?

Dare to Care!

90 Beaumont Street looks like it is an empty building. It used to be a barber shop more years ago than I care to remember. I suspect that this garbage dump was left by the "people" (term used loosely) who live over the Memphis Blues restaurant. And speaking of the Memphis Blues restaurant, I am very surprised that Guy Izzo, owner/manager (?) of this restaurant would allow such trash to greet his customers. Being a former Crime Watch Coalition President, it shouldn't be a problem knowing who to contact to get this taken care of. Most likely, he knows exactly who this garbage belongs to. Nonetheless, "Dare to Care" will take care of it. The owner of this building (who may be Robert Jabers, I need to confirm) should expect to get copies of this picture in the mail with our "request" to take care of this problem.*******

Stay after 'em , Babs. It's the only way. What happened to the famous blue bags? Does the city pick up those other bags?

More from the e-mail inbox. This is funny, but it's going to be deemed to be hateful coming from a Republican and all.

*******Subject: Ethical question

What would you do?

You are about to take a short test. It consists of only one question which is very, very important. Don't answer too quickly or without thinking. Answer truthfully and you will test your moral fiber.

It is an imaginary situation, in which you have to make a decision. Remember, you have to give a spontaneous answer, but it must be truthful.(Scroll down slowly to ensure the test is accurate...)

You are in Florida.... in Miami, to be exact. You are in the midst of the chaos of tremendous flooding after a hurricane..... .unbelievable amounts of water everywhere. You are a professional news photographer ..........and here you are, in the middle of a historic disaster. The situation seems almost without hope.

You're trying to shoot some great pictures that capture the scene... ...while all around you the flood swirls, houses float away, people disappear. The power of nature is unleashed mercilessly with its all its fury ...and takes everything with it.

Suddenly, you see a woman in an SUV.... She's struggling valiantly not to be swept away by the mass of debris in the flood. You wade closer, against an angry current. She seems somehow familiar. Then you see her--it is Hillary Rodham Clinton!

Suddenly, you notice that the rising flood is about to sweep her away, forever.

You have to make a choice: Save her, or snap the picture of your career!!!

Save her, or take the photo that will win you the Pulitzer prize.

One photo, which records the horrible accidental death of one of the most important women in the world....

Now, the question (answer truthfully!):

color film or black & white?********

What could be more perfect than a green fire truck in a St. Patty's Day Parade? Oh, yeah. Courtesy of the Swoyersville Volunteer Dudes.

Aw, shucks. Let's try some more hatemongering. Also from the e-mail inbox:

******* What is your party?

Driving from Phoenix to Chicago the other day and south of Kansas City - a tire blew out. Checking my spare, I found that it too was flat. My only option was to flag down a passing motorist and get a ride to the next town. The first vehicle to stop was an old man in a van. He yelled out the window, "Need a lift?"

"Yes, I sure do," I replied.

"You a Democrat or Republican?" asked the old man.

"Republican." I replied.

"Well, you can forget a ride with me," yelled the old man as he sped off.

Another guy stopped, rolled down the window, and asked me the same question. Again, I gave the same answer, "Republican." The driver gave me the finger and drove off. I thought it over and decided that maybe I should change my strategy, since this area seemed to be overly political and there appeared to be few Republicans.

The next car to stop was a flaming red convertible with the top down driven by a beautiful Blonde. She smiled seductively and asked if I was Democrat or Republican.

"Democrat!" I shouted.

"Hop in!" replied the Blonde.

Driving down the road, I couldn't help but stare at this gorgeous woman in the seat next to me, the wind blowing through her hair, perfect breasts were visible thanks to great cleavage. She wore a short skirt that continued to creep higher and higher up her shapely thighs. Finally, I yelled, "Please stop the car." She immediately slammed on the brakes and as soon as the car stopped, I jumped out. "What's the matter?" she asked.

"I can't take it anymore," I replied. "I've only been a Democrat for five minutes and already I want to screw somebody.*******

BANG!

Gotta roll. Enjoy the snow.
