KARACHI, Dec 19: Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan chief Maulana Shah Ahmad Noorani has said that the Muslims today are passing through a critical phase as they are being subjected to massacres, ravages and destruction.

What was happening today was because of our gross indifference to tenets of Islam.

He expressed his views at an Eid get-together hosted by the workers of JUP Karachi Division here on Wednesday.

"We should not get disappointed with what happened in Afghanistan and we, as Muslims, should shed our blood for the noble cause of Islam and the Almighty Allah would compensate us in the life hereafter."

He said that extending our help to a neighbouring country is our religious duty. If anybody considers that issue of Kashmir is only for Kashmiris and that of Palestine for Palestinians and the Afghan crisis is the headache of Afghans only, he was at fault as it was against the spirit of Islam according to which all Muslims are brethren, irrespective of their nationalities.

Noorani recounted various incidents from Islamic history in which hundreds of thousands Muslims laid down their lives in the path of Almighty Allah and Islam continued to flourish in the world.

He said that Islamic history is replete with the events of rise and fall but we should not be dismayed and, God willing, the Pak Army would also produce great generals, like Tipu Sultan, Ahmad Shah Abdali, Salahuddin Ayubi, Shahab-ud-Din Ghori and Mehmood Ghaznavi who would take a revenge from the enemy.

He said that the Holy Prophet has said that Muslims can overwhelm their enemies through Jehad only.-PPI
