I'm interested in the geneology you've been
doing for the Kopp family. I was adopted as a baby and just recently
found out my birth surname was Kopp (I don't know if this was my
mother's, or father's surmane - they weren't married). Since you seem to
have some information on this ancestry, I was wondering if you could
help me find someone from my birth family.
Here is the information I already have:

-My birth mother was born in 1942. She had a son in 1966 from her first
marriage. She then divorced and met my father. One year later I was born
in 1972 (in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) and placed for adoption. I know
my mother was of Scottish decent and my father was of German decent. My
mother was described as 5 feet 3/4 inches and 120 pounds. My mother
complete school until grade 9 and was working as a dishwasher when I was
born. I know she grew up on a farm in Alberta with her mother and
father. There could have been other siblings, but I don't have that much
information.

-My birth father was born in 1943. He completed school until grade 5 and
was a student at the time of my birth. He was raised in Alberta as well.
He was described as slight build, only about 5 feet 6 inches tall and
only 140 pounds, but nice looking and wore glasses. I know he had other
siblings, maybe two brothers, but I don't have information on them.

Does this sound like anyone on your tree?
Please let me know.

Thanks!!

My g.g.grandfather Ludwig Kopf or that was his name on the shipping records came to
Aust
. with his wife Christina Ketteman and their son Johan Heindrich
on board the Catteaux Wattel in 1855.
Christina died in 1859 and
I find no further reference to Ludwig.
Johan becomes
John Henry Koph and in 1876 marries Mary Ann Long
and in 1884 marries
Catherine Robertson.
On the marriage records in 1884 he states his fathers name is
George Louis Koph.
My grandfather, John and Catherines eldest son, married my grandmother in
1911 as Hamlin Henry Edwin Kopp and
registered his fathers death in 1926 as
John Henry Kopp.
The shipping records show Ludwig's parents as Petee Kopf and Anna Maria Kopf.
Christinas's parents were listed as Jacob and Barbara Kettemann.
Ludwig and Christina 's place of marriage is hard to read and the
transcriber put a question mark and stated it may be St Iken.
Can anyone help?

Mike Kopp - Maryland
kopp@radix.net

I am a Kopp from Maryland and I saw your address on the web.
My grandfather, Charles ? Kopp grew up in an
orphanage in Washington DC.
He was born between 1898 and 1905, estimate.
I know he had siblings (1 or 2 sisters and possibly a brother or two).
He lived on and off with his family and the orphanage
but I think the orphanage was home for most of the time.
1or 2 of his siblings lived in the orphanage for part of their childhood too.
He married a Jones from DC also and had five children
(
Richard, Ellen, Doug, Clyde, Dennis) after moving to Orlando, FL.
I also know he had a child (son) before his marriage as well.
Interested in any info you may have.
Thanks
